This robot vacuum has two “eyes” to see your floors better.

The Narwal Freo Z Ultra ($1,499.99) uses two cameras to constantly scan while cleaning and adapt to what it spots.

Dual AI chips mean it can identify objects and decide how to clean — get close to chair leg but give pet poop a wide berth, retract its brush when it sees a cable, and activate mop-only when there’s a wet mess ahead.

Here is a piece on climate colonialism that quotes from Amitav Ghosh' book, "The Nutmeg's Curse":

"“Colonialism, genocide and structures of organised violence were the foundations on which industrial modernity was built,”"

theconversation.com/when-did-t…

I still haven't been able to finish reading the book, it makes me too angry. CelloDad did though, and got a much better grasp of what "colonialism" and "white supremacy" mean.

in reply to CelloMom On Cars

Colonialism is suffused with violence: whether the colonisers are the Romans, the Qing dynasty, the British or the oil and gas companies.

Polluting the land is violence.
Attacking activists is violence.
Air pollution is violence.
Climate change is violence.

For the person at the receiving end, it doesn't matter that the weapon is an arrow, a bullet, PM particles, or a souped-up hurricane. Damage is damage. Lives lost are lives lost.

Pay attention, ABC moderators: Just ask them each policy questions. That's all.

in reply to Jeff Jarvis

ah but did you see the AP headline which made it seem, on the face of it, coherent? As ever, uncritical media communicating for him when he can’t.
in reply to Jeff Jarvis

Policy questions are all well and good. But what Trump did here was talk about what he wanted to talk about, without getting into any details, which I think is a tactic that works for him - especially if he's not called on it.

LONG RANGE CONSIDERATION

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance is discussing Kiev's use of long-range missiles, and called the ability of Ukraine to reach military facilities on Russian territory important.

Speaking about the invasion of the Kursk region, he stated that it is difficult to say how the situation will develop in the future.

Humpback whales make custom fishing nets – out of bubbles.

NPR reports: "The 50-foot whales blow circles of bubbles underwater, creating a net of air that entraps the krill. A new study shows that humpbacks can do this with remarkable precision to corral their prey, even tailoring the bubble nets for the type of food they’re eating."

Mounting ssd causes graphics glitch during liveboot

I tried to install Arch Linux on my old faithful latitude 7490. After partitioning and formatting the drive I tried to mount the root partition and got this random glitch. When I unmount it the glitch stops. Maybe my laptop is trying to tell me I'm not ready for Arch 😅

I haven't seen something like this before so I thought I'd share.

In the video:
The screen of a laptop showing Arch Linux liveboot terminal. After creating partition table and formatting the partitions. I try to mount thebroot partition to the liveboot filesystem. The mounting succeeds but the text on the screen starts to shift andnjump eratically. Looks like the whole image shifts. Then I try unmounting the partition and the screen goes back to normal.

in reply to inzen

Either a defective RAM or a physically broken (bent) mainboard.
in reply to NeoNachtwaechter

That would make sense if the PCIe or SATA traces would interfere with the GPU.
in reply to NeoNachtwaechter

I tend to agree, it did glitch out in the past when I held it by one corner between meetings(old work laptop). Not the smartest way to hold a laptop. Interestingly it is working fine now with windows. I gave it away to someone that needed a pc and have been keeping an eye on it.
