Hezbollah carried out several attacks against Israeli sites on 6 September, as Israel targeted the south of Lebanon with "illegal white phosphorus" shells.

According to Lebanonโ€™s National News Agency (NNA), Israel targeted southern Lebanon with white phosphorus on Friday. โ€œThe area between Tal Nahas and Al-Hamams [..] is being subjected to artillery shelling with phosphorus shells, which caused fires to break out,โ€ NNA said.

Securing the world's #water supply is one of the greatest challenges of our time.

New research is now presenting an alternative method for quantifying the global risk of water scarcity.

Results indicate higher risks to water supply than previously expected if accounting for the environmental conditions and governability where #rain is produced.

At least 18 Palestinians, including four children, were killed in airstrikes by Israeli warplanes targeting the central Gaza Strip with one of the strikes hitting tents set up for displaced persons in what the Israeli military claims is a "humanitarian safe zone.โ€

Medical sources at the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital said that six bodies were brought to the hospital after an Israeli airstrike hit a house in the Zeitoun neighborhood.

Following a ProPublica-Chicago Tribune investigation, the Garrison School in #Illinois will change its disciplinary practices and provide services to those who missed class due to being arrested or sent to a seclusion room.

Read the original investigation into the Garrison School, where police were being called on students every other day in recent years, here:

The experiences described in this article are well known to the parents of children born with brain disorders that come with behavioral symptoms. It is hard for me to not react with vitriol to the stories of what these children endure at the hands of willfully ignorant adults.
in reply to ProPublica

This school is either in Sing Sing, or it needs a whole new administration. Calling police every other day to deal with errant students is militarizing the school, costing taxpayers a bundle, and running away from the job of being educators. Btw, it's terrible for students.
in reply to ProPublica

Okay, I donโ€™t know exactly what was happening in those specific situations, but it seems to me like โ€œnoncompliance,โ€ disruption,โ€ & โ€œinappropriate languageโ€ are things to be reasonably expected of many kids in most high school classrooms; & hardly something a trained & competent teacher should need or want to call the cops over.

The best guide to Trumpโ€™s economic plan, such as it is, is still Project 2025โ€™s Mandate for Leadership. Trump has attempted to disavow it, but 140 members of his administration helped assemble it.

My move over to Mastodon two years ago fizzled out, so a #reintroduction is probably in order. I'm an #actuallyautistic public librarian living in Minnesota, still working through the imposter syndrome after earning my MLIS. I love to read and write, though I'm easily distracted by fountain pens, new notebooks, and typewriters. There's a soft spot in my heart for vintage aesthetics and retro tech.

I also have a dog that believes he's the center of the universe. For all I know, he's right.

in reply to B.D. Wellman

Hey welcome back! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Lovely to see the dog, and he's quite right in his beliefs!

The Price of Survival is not my usual story, but I am so glad I wrote it. Exploring societal trauma and survival from three different perspectives, it gave me a chance to dig into some ideas I don't usually get a chance to play with.

If you enjoy stories of trauma survivors doing their best int he face of disaster, you might enjoy The Price of Survival, available now in ebook for $2.99 on Smashwords and other etailers.
