UN Expert Fears Israel Will Exterminate 'Almost the Entire Population of Gaza If Not Stopped

Italian 'sì', Spanish 'sí' and many more Romance words for "yes" come from Latin 'sīc', which meant "so; thus; like that". In Popular Latin it got an extra meaning: "yes", born out of the sense "like that", i.e. "like you said".

French 'oui' has a completely different origin. It comes from Old French 'oïl', a univerbation of 'o il', literally "yes, it (is/does/has etc.)".

'O' stemmed from Latin 'hoc' (this), which became 'òc' (yes) in Occitan, whose name was derived from this very word.

"Rich ready to quit UK.." 👇
Bamford, Warburton, Dyson, Martin, Hargreaves, Ratcliffe, Hester, Odey, Banks....those rich? The ones that got themselves rich in our society, using our workforce and infrastructure, then conspired with Farage & Gove to confiscate British Citizens' rights of European free movement, & whine about paying tax? More money than sense, & utterly selfish. Let the fleet of private jets set their course for Kigali. They won't be missed.

One of several fascinating statistics on Britain’s EV charging network, compiled by the network mapping providers Zapmap. As of August there were over 35,000 locations where you can charge your EV. That’s compared to around 8,400 locations where you can fill up with petrol or diesel. 1,400 more were added in the last month. zap-map.com/ev-stats/how-many-…

Those chargers are distributed pretty liberally around the country. Greater London has the most by far (over 20,000), bulked up by an enormous rollout of street-based kerbside outlets. Many English regions are fairly level-pegging but Yorkshire, East Midlands, Wales and the North East are lagging. NI has the least but that’s serving a much smaller population. Check out the report for more insights.

PS. None of these numbers count the chargers that householders with off-road parking are able to install. Those drivers (about 60% of homes) can start a long journey with a full battery every day and, coupled with modern EV ranges over 250-300 miles) that is a major factor in determining the demand on rapid D.C. chargers.
