I say we only let billionaires have any tax breaks if they dress up as superheroes and go out and fight crime.

As Nicolle Wallace exclaimed on her show Friday, Liz Cheney and Dick Cheney, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders have all gathered together around a cause.
That cause is #democracy
and its standard bearer is #Kamala #Harris.

This is a momentous time in the United States, unprecedented at least in this century and likely since long before the Civil War.
The question is whether our national media will understand this moment
— or whether they will continue to insist on their trope of a "divided America"
This is not a divided America.
Patriots are gathering together and putting past differences aside to forestall a next civil war,
to support and defend the Constitution.

A profound phenomenon is emerging :
The question is not whether we should demean or understand or empathize with fascists.
We should instead concentrate on welcoming those who will stand for democracy in a larger movement.

Trump lies about his sanctions record. No President has ever used sanctions more, and Trump never once lifted sanctions. (Sanctions are awful under Biden, too, but Trump is even worse on this issue.) daniellarison.substack.com/p/trumps-san...

“the painful truth is that #rural America remains the largest voting block within #MAGA. I reject that this must be the norm.”

“Nearly 44% of our military hails from rural communities, even though they make up less than 20% of the population.”

The poverty draft.

Copper head road and all that.

One girl that belonged to a less-employable high school friend of my husband went into the Navy to get away from that mess and secure herself a medical career. I doubt anyone has ever been so happy to go to basic training. It worked out for her, though. It's not a stupid move on the part of rural people to take that route if it's what is available.

It also worked for some of my older son's friends that had bad home situations.

What I resent is how the country takes advantage of their already difficult lives. I'm practical enough to know we have to have a military, but I have major issues with how we go about it as a country and most of what the MIC gets up to.

Using hot lava would be crazy dangerous. But there are ways to tap volcanic heat to make electricity.

To harness the energy, engineers drill wells down into the magma and bring steam to the surface, where it is goes into power plants to spin turbines and generate electricity.

Il me semble qu’une certaine personne politique a dit que c’était du racisme des médias d’extrême droite et que tout allait bien

@Nunuche Follette moi je pense qu'on résout mieux les problèmes en regardant la réalité en face qu'en la niant.

Update on migrating away from #Fitbit (did I mention that? I can't remember).

The excellent #fitbit2garmin by simonepri (github.com/simonepri/fitbit2ga…) is a #python script whichexported all my #tcx files without error (confirmed by my importing them to #Garmin). It also appears to have exported all my other logs too, but I haven't checked the contents of those files.

I created my own fork (github.com/goetzk/fitbit2garmi…) because I saw some others had issues but didn't end up needing to make any substantial changes - just a few #documentation and style tweaks.
Between that output and Fitbits official export I hope to have saved all my data and I'll be able to delete my Fitbit account soon.
