Hiroshima: The Last Witnesses by M. G. Sheftall, 2024
The first volume in a two-book series about each of the atomic bomb drops that ended the Pacific War based on years of irreplicable personal interviews with survivors to tell a story of devastation and resilience.

I think for some reason my tray icons aren't showing up. I can see that nm-applet is running, but there's no icon for it. And the current #Debian stable no longer has "stalonetray" for me to run a standalone system tray for testing.
I've looked at the sway manpages, and there's only a mention of the tray in say-bar(5). I added
tray_output *
to the
bar {
section of the config, but that didn't make it show up, either.
Any ideas?
"Hasbro's CEO thinks D&D's adoption of AI Is inevitable."
"If you look at a typical D&D player... I play with probably 30 or 40 people regularly. There's not a single person who doesn't use AI somehow for either campaign development or character development or story ideas. That's a clear signal that we need to be embracing it. We need to do it carefully, we need to do it responsibly, we need to make sure we pay creators for their work, and we need to make sure we're clear when something is AI-generated."
Yet...
"Wizards of the Coast at large, at least so far, has been keen to emphasize that Dungeons & Dragons is a game about human creativity, made by actual people for actual people to play."

I think the #MVI will end up with the #Windows Kernel having a “Security API” where software will be able to peek and poke relevant system information to avoid tampering or suspicious activity.
The problem is the chain of trust. I expect #AntiCheat software to become useless, and servers having to analyze user behavior to find cheaters.

It’s getting late here (NYC) so it must be very late where you are.
Had a good day. September 11 Memorial Cricket match at historic Walker Park. This was my second year attending and now has to be considered a must-do on my yearly calendar. Such a friendly vibe between the teams.
This sounds great, especially since I'm unemployed, left the security field 15 odd years ago, and miss the work very much. Unfortunately, I've had IT Security folks tell me that they just aren't seeing the 500,000 open jobs. Are they wrong?

I also left #infosec around the same time.
I'd love to get back into it, but I have no clue how.
Not sure Id recognize it even if I did.
An acquaintance recently told me they were studying "cyber security," and I was low-key offended by the name.
It's not "cyber" anything. It's carefully crafted malware against hastily slipshod systems and application programming each and every time.
So much CYA and security theatre. I honestly don't know how much of a red pill treatment to give people anymore when they start talking about computers.
I REALLY have to shut up around webdevs so lest I just give them the evil eye. 😆
We Found No Evidence That Walz Lied About Being a Football Coach
Many on social media speculated that he exaggerated the significance of his coaching role, claiming he was only an unpaid assistant coach.
Apparently I have a habit of finding out about Fedi projects ahead of time. Causing me to get excited and leak them before they're announced.😅
That's either whoops or hurray!
Still trying to judge which it is.🤣
Posted about BridgyFed before Ryan announced it was live and just found out I posted about sub.club before it was announced officially.
Ya'll not very good at hiding things tbh!
The entire story here is "my neighbor's friend's acquaintance's cat went missing" with about 3 feet of racist frosting on top. Just the absolutely dumbest racist shit I've ever seen.

in reply to R. L. Dane :debian: :openbsd: • • •I use waybar, which has a tray module, and nm-applet just shows up there being run via its XDG desktop file.
Maybe nm-applet needs the `--indicator` option provided to it for waybar? It didn't for me

Interesting!
I tried manually killing nm-applet and starting it directly from the command line, but it's still not showing up.
I wonder if it's the somewhat convoluted system of include files I'm using. It's a bit of a mess (to allow for theming).
the main sway config sources one file for colors, another for the bar { } part, and another per-hostname include file.
I'd hate to start over from scratch. XD

I definitely appreciate the attempt! 💗
