Dozens of illegal Israeli settlers escorted by security forces on Saturday evening stormed the Old City of Hebron in the southern West Bank, forcing Palestinians to head back home.

“Dozens of settlers, accompanied by dozens of Israeli soldiers, entered the Old City of Hebron, including the Palestinian market areas,” eyewitnesses said.

The witnesses added that guides with illegal Israeli settlers forced local residents to stay indoors.

Discovered some #linux #bluetooth shenanigans yesterday.

I fired up a first-person game for the first time in a long time, and found that the mouse movement was really jerky. Seems that the average polling rate on my MX Master 3S was really low over bluetooth - around 70-80Hz. My main monitor is 100Hz, so this is really noticeable.
The shenanigans come in because when I switched on my bluetooth trackball (M575) at the same time, the average polling rate for both went up to 90-125Hz!

Israeli soldiers throw stun grenades at demonstrators in Umm Safa village north of Ramallah, West Bank, on Saturday as residents and activists protest the land seizure of 123.5 acres by Israeli settlers.

Local sources said that the occupation soldiers fired sound bombs and toxic gas at the citizens who participated in the stand, against the occupation's attempts to seize their lands in the area for the benefit of colonial expansion.

Turkish-American activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, who was shot by Israeli forces last Friday during a peaceful protest in the occupied West Bank, has been laid to rest.

Eygi was fatally injured by gunfire to the head during a peaceful demonstration in the West Bank and later died in a hospital.

Her memory leaves a legacy of sacrifice and dedication that transcends borders and cultures.

‘Train AI with your emotions’

I had a negative visceral reaction to this. The tests were run by the library and uni, both highly trusted. People were having fun in Virtual Reality goggles. I’m sure the research aim is good. But I’ve developed an instinctive dislike of AI because of its ubiquitous intrusion and the way it has enshittified basic things like autocorrect and search. So when I saw the sign, my immediate thought was: AI can fuck right off if it thinks I’m giving it my emotions.

Showing up to the library to ruin their training data with my autism and alexithymia :blobcatevil:

Jokes aside, this looks like yet another use of AI to automate biases - as if every person shows emotions the same way regardless of upbringing, culture, neurotype etc.

in reply to crow :autism:

@bismuthcrow Yes, I said the same - culture, age and a lot of other factors make emotional responses vary anyway.

The existence of the ‘Silk Road’ is not based on a single shred of historical or material evidence. There was never any such ‘road’ or even a route in the organisational sense, there was no free movement of goods between China and the West until the Mongol Empire in the Middle Ages, silk was by no means the main commodity in trade with the East and there is not a single ancient historical record, neither Chinese nor classical, that even hints at the existence of such a road.
