Aljoscha Meyer & Sam Gwilym are working on Earthstar + Willow. The latter is a family of protocols for synchronisable data stores.
The key issue they see with the internet is fragility: "Most networked services are built in a tightly coupled way where a single component failure can bring the whole service down, and users regularly lose access to their data."
Willow addresses this issue: "Devices using Willow can connect to each other directly, with no privileged intermediary infrastructure like a data centre."

PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio — Portage County's sheriff called for residents to record the addresses of residents who publicly display support for presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Sheriff Zuchowski wrote on Facebook:
"When people ask me...What's gonna happen if the Flip - Flopping, Laughing Hyena Wins?? I say...write down all the addresses of the people who had her signs in their yards! Sooo...when the Illegal human "Locust" (which she supports!) Need places to live...We'll already have the addresses of the their New families...who supported their arrival!"
