I'm trying to figure out how to use the post search feature for a specific (followed) user to filter their posts. As far as I can tell, the "from:.." feature seems to be instance-specific, but some places (specifically the @markwyner blogpost markwrites.io/guide-for-using-…) suggest this should be relative to the data on my instance (I tested this with @linksgruen_nbg). So far it looks like it only works for boosted Toots.
Is this a #tusky issue or is this by design?
in reply to Rens van der Heijden

even with my article (and other ones) Mastodon search is confusing.

Regarding your comments/questions…

You're welcome!

The "from:" shouldn't be instance specific. But it will only find data your instance knows about. The "knows about" part is related to data you see (attaching my infographic).

Regarding the cross-instance @, that wasn't my experience. Every mobile app treats search differently. So what you see might be Tusky-related?

Anyway, I hope this helps.
