I hope this is a smooth release, I do not want to bork my EndeavourOS. It took so much time to customize it to my personal taste !!

Xfce having wayland would be a game changer, Especially on low end pcs.

I'm ready to release uncomplicated-alert-receiver. It's a robust and reliable prometheus alert receiver, intended only for heads up displays. It requires zero configuration and is no-nonsense. It's designed to work when all you have running is prometheus + alertmanager. #prometheus #opensource #monitoring #hacktoberfest #selfhosted

Having lots of fun clearing my #Steam backlog of #Linux compatible games. A bunch I got in a #HumbleBundle.

Finished Rise of the #TombRaider and really, really loved it. Maybe even better than the previous.

Finished #Kona. Liked the atmosphere but didn't really feel like *I* solved the mystery. Just following points on a map then a rushed ending.

Started #Batora last night. Not sure this game is really my jam. The dialog is pretty annoying. Will try for a couple more hours.

Things have been quiet around #gpuaudio lately, or am I wrong? I remember that they initially announced #linux support down the line but if I am not mistaken, there is still only Windows support for the time being.

Post brought a package! :blobcatheartbongo: I bet that this is going to be one of those things that will cause a bit of joy, but mostly just suffering. Thank you @mwl for making this experience more approachable!

yay!

If you don't mind my asking: are you actually in Finland? Trying to track how long things take to appear.

in reply to Michael W Lucas

Yeah in Finland. Package actually reached customs 22th, but sender had dropped all non-asciii characters from the name and address (so, about third of them 😅) so it took 4 days until customs notification found me and package itself arrived today.

When men have anatomical variations that make them FAST or STRONG or give them huge endurance, we're so impressed. They are athletic gods.

When woman have anatomical variations that make them fast....we start to ask if they're "really" women. Why is that? scientificamerican.com/article…

A Pair of #Billionaire Preachers Built the Most Powerful Political Machine in #Texas. That’s Just the Start.

Like the Koch brothers and other conservative billionaires, Dunn and Wilks want to slash #regulations and #taxes. Their endgame, however, is more radical: not just to limit the government but also to steer it toward #Christian rule.

universeodon.com/@Swede1952/11… Swede1952@universeodon.com - Good morning. 🦋🦋🦋

"Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Looking for adventure
In whatever comes our way

Yeah, darlin' gonna make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

I like smoke and lightnin'
Heavy metal thunder
Racing with the wind
And the feeling that I'm under

Yeah, darlin' gonna make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

Like a true nature's child
We were born
Born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die ..." - Steppenwolf

Hmmm ... this must be for the biker side of me that mostly sits in my garage. Steppenwolf is definitely a blast from the past. If you're too young to know about Steppenwolf, it's worth checking out.

#DIYDay the electrician actually turned up... 3hrs early. Which means he continues his streak of never turning up on time once... At least he got the right day though and didn't cancel like he has 5 other times. 😐

Meanwhile, to save money as my mum has officially run out once last trades have been paid (in fact she's overspent by around £1500-2000, which is why you have a contingency budget).

So I'm modifying some simple cabinets with legs and there's an oak top to be fitted.

in reply to Anomnomnomaly

I've got 4 cabinets to modify. 1 for a bedside table, and 3 will be used in an L shape to create a corner vanity unit. I've got 3m of oak kitchen counter top, that the joiner will cut up to create the window board and the tops for these. I've also asked if he'll cut up the off cuts to make some narrow shelves and a cutting board or two for the kitchen.

Engineered oak isn't that expensive, £210 for a 3 meter length of 22mm thick and 620mm wide counter.

All new furniture would have cost 3x that

in reply to Anomnomnomaly

Yoinks... unexpected expenses.

The CO2 alarm for the boiler which is located above the bedroom... is going to cost a lot more than I realised.

Building regs changed last year.

The sensor needs to be a combined heat & CO2 alarm, and needs to be linked to the rest of the system. So if it goes off, it will trigger the heat sensor in the kitchen which also triggers the smoke alarms in the hallway and upstairs.

It's about £200+ as we need to replace the kitchen one with a wireless one too.
