Lift -
Someone had built the lift, and given it controls that made sense to both humans and thetiks. It was old, but not nearly as old as other components of the Sphere.

@Cher From my perspective, it moves exactly as fast as it needs to to support the action that occurs while characters are on it :)

Six years ago today, Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi was brutally murdered by Saudi government agents at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

His body was dismembered and disposed of.

It’s time for Biden to declassify Khashoggi intelligence.

in reply to Freedom of the Press

Reports on Khashoggi’s murder are still secret.

Release of more intelligence about his gruesome murder would place democratic principles over a relationship with a dictator.

Declassifying more intelligence on Khashoggi’s murder would also prioritize the public’s right to know about America’s relationship with an autocratic leader.

@ZhiZhu Sometimes, politics is courtship that blossoms into love. A candidate who may not seem ideal at first will grow on you by their actions, and win your heart in the end. So it is with Joe Biden, who has done more in four years than anyone ever expected him to do...

The better I get with OpenSCAD the less I want to use FreeCAD for 3D printing. Its still an awesome tool for my CNC routers, and lately I started learning about BIM. But for 3D printing I converted to composite designs. I believe I could get away with a 10 cc printer and still build large models.

I never worked with any commercial software so I cannot comment on that.

Australian mining tycoon Andrew Forrest, founder and executive chairman of Fortescue, says it is time for the world to walk away from the "fantasy" of net zero emissions by 2050 and to embrace "real zero" by 2040 instead.

Forrest is calling on business executives and politicians reluctant to make the changes necessary to avert the worst of what the climate crisis has in store to make way for leaders willing to take on the decarbonization challenge.

I wish this had occurred to me before I already owned three 3D printers, but it wouldn’t be very difficult to take a two head printer and add a tiny milling cutter to one head to machine each layer more precisely. Given how little material would be removed, and that its plastic, the forces should be fine. Wonder what the easiest way to generate the gcode for the miller cutter would be. Detecting the outer walls seems plausible since they are already sliced differently. I’ve generated gcode in a Python script before and it wasn’t very challenging, and this wouldn’t have flow rates to worry about. #3dprinting

Suppose that you could use a large nozzle size for the 3D printer head for faster printing, then trim it to be more precise where needed.

It is a very good thing too. I don't know if Portal / Jonathan Coulton was an inspiration, but I do feel the same vibe coming from the SID.

If there is more to come I shall also give it a listen, that's for sure.

@avatastic thank you so much! Funny that it gave off a Portal vibe, I wasn’t thinking that but now I’m certainly hearing it.
