Wenn es nach Microsoft geht, soll man funktionsfähige Hardware mit einem nicht mehr unterstütztem Windows einfach aussondern und einen neuen PC kaufen. So ganz nebenbei wird außerdem behauptet, das Material sei altersschwach, was aber nicht stimmt. Beweis? Installiert auf der vermeintlich "alten Krücke" #Linux. Ihr werdet sehen, die Maschine läuft wieder schnell. Die Hardware ist also doch nicht altersschwach, sondern Windows einfach nur extrem ressourcenfressend. 🧵 1/3

Softwareseitig gibt es für Alltagsanwender keinen Grund, an Windows festzuhalten. Alles, was Windows kann, kann #Linux grundsätzlich auch: Von Office, E-Mail und Chat über Medien und Spiele bis hin zur Personalausweis-App für die digitale Verwaltung. Nur bei Spezialanwendungen und grafiklastigen Spielen kommt man kaum um Windows herum, aber gerade bei letzterem braucht es eh einen Rechner "state of the art". 🧵 2/3

Einen weiteren Vorteil hat der Umstieg zu #Linux: Es gibt keinen Registrierungszwang und man wird nicht von Werbung zugeballert, wie Microsoft immer mehr davon sogar im Betriebssystem unterbringt. Trotzdem muss man keinen Bruch hinnehmen. Ihr könnt unter #Linux auch weiterhin die Microsoft-Cloud, Dropbox oder Google Drive benutzen.
Falls ihr euch fragt, welches Linux, sei euch gesagt: Probiert nicht lange rum, sondern nehmt das, wofür ihr anfangs die meiste Unterstützung findet. Viel Spaß! 🧵 3/3
