About 25 of every 1,000 homes were sold between January and August. That means 37% fewer homes were sold between January and August this year than during that same period in 2021, per Redfin.

This morning at 10AM, we have some very light rain and no wind yet.
in reply to Ted

Yes, we never lost power. The storm did very little damage around here.
in reply to Ted

Good outcome for you at least. South of there it seems things fared somewhat less well.

Is there anyone out there who actually cares about the GTK deprecation warnings? I doubt that.

c-squares: render squares in the terminal window (c language)

gitlab.com/christosangel/c-squ…

c-squares written in the C language will render random coloured rectangulars in the terminal, while the font, speed, density, color, ratio and number of the shapes drawn are fully costumizable.

Every time a rectangular is complete, a new one starts to take shape.

More like something like eye candy, but it can also work like this.

"To understand what’s happening in America today and what’s on the ballot this November, you need to pay attention to shifting coalitions. What we’re seeing right now is a strengthening and expanding coalition between Christian nationalists, tech billionaires, and Trump’s inner circle."

"What we are witnessing right now is an ever widening network—not just the TheoBros and Trump’s inner circle, but both of these networks now interlinked with the power of tech billionaires. That means we’ve got old-school oil money flowing together with 21st-century tech money, a nearly bottomless source of funds on hand to advance this agenda."

"What do TechBros and TheoBros have in common with Trump and his inner circle? All think their respective causes will be better served by ending American democracy. They want a strongman at top—their strongman. To hell with democracy, and with the rest of us."

If you want to get a better angle on the TheoBros, who are a right-wing exclusively male group of young Calvinists with theocratic aspirations for the nation, you'll perhaps find this Mother Jones video enlightening.

Another very valuable information resource to understand the confluence of Christian nationalism, the theocratic aspirations of the TheoBros (and hard-right Catholics), oil money, TechBros, and the Republican party now is David Pepper's series on Trump and Vance's Project2025.

As a hard-right Catholic convert virtually owned by TechBro Thiel, Vance is a personal point of intersection.

"I think the key idol of Christian nationalism is power, and specifically, a self-interested power. Power is the ability to get others to do what you want despite their resistance. ... Christian nationalism is intent on gaining and defending access to power that only serves 'us,' the in-group of 'right' Christians."

"Within Christian nationalism, any attempt to share or distribute power is anathema. This places folks who embrace Christian nationalism in direct opposition to the foundational principles of any pluralistic democratic system or society."

in reply to Klara Binon

@Klara What you're responding to in Kristin Du Mez's good commentary is unclear to me. If it's her observation that big oil money is allied with these groups doing all they can to place Trump in the White House, the I'd say the answer is obvious: big oil is precisely why we're in a climate change crisis of epic proportions.
in reply to William Lindsey :toad:

I was responding to the 'big new tech' joining them and equally wanting weirdo's that will not hurt their wallet with taxes and climate concerns.
To me that is not surprising.
in reply to Klara Binon

@Klara I don't think Kristin Du Mez is surprised that TechBro billionaires want to fragment democracy and replace it with autocracy. I think she's warning us about this and about their alliance with the other groups she hames.
in reply to William Lindsey :toad:

True, a lot of people didn't see this coming though.

"The corporate-owned media are no longer masters of the universe. Much like Donald, they are increasingly irrelevant. Instead of looking inward and trying to figure out how to change, they double-down and lose even more ground.

Kamala Harris is a threat to the old way of doing things, which is yet another reason to vote for her."

And that’s perfectly fine by me.

in reply to William Lindsey :toad:

"For months, it’s been stunning to see the media abrogate its responsibility when it comes to covering Donald Trump. Compared to its coverage of both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the corporate legacy media has held Trump to an entirely different standard—which is to say no standard at all."

"Instead, they have cast the election as a typical political horserace, normalizing and sane-washing Trump, rather than calling him out for his incessant lies and the fascist threat to democracy he represents.

In tomorrow’s piece, writer Todd Beeton will explore this phenomenon and then take a look at some recent examples of the media actually doing its job."

It is the people. Media goes where people are.

How do you explain GOP complete takeover by bull shit autocrat

in reply to Hash

@Hash Media often give us the impression of going where people are, but they are highly selective on which people they choose to interview or listen to. And they shape public opinion in profound ways.
