Whooping cough is spreading again in the U.S. after years of relative quiet.

@SciAm reports: "Pertussis is caused by a bacterium called Bordetella pertussis, which easily spreads between people through direct contact or via droplets from someone’s mouth or nose."

Gordock and Salic mated to produce Mokutha.
They are the product of 10 generations of breeding.
Mokutha prefers dogs to cats.

If this flame is beautiful, ⭐ or boost this post to improve its chances for future breedings.

I switched from Notability to Goodnotes a few months back and, though it took me a bit to "get" it, I'm really happy with it now.

I have different "notebooks" on certain subjects and insert papers into them where I can highlight/take notes in place. It's got OCR, so they're helpfully searchable, regardless of the quality of the file. It's like having a three ring binder, which old school me can appreciate.

in reply to Ashe Dryden

Yeah that'd be nice. I’ve had to slow down my writing to make sure I can actually read my notes later LOL.

The swing-state counties hit by Hurricane Helene mostly voted for Trump in 2020

The key presidential states of Georgia and North Carolina were hit particularly hard by Hurricane Helene. NPR compared which counties qualify for FEMA aid with 2020 election results. The area is largely Republican.

During an interview with Al Jazeera, senior political analyst Marwan Bishara discussed the United States' ongoing support for Israel at the UN Security Council, highlighting that the US has repeatedly blocked resolutions aimed at providing humanitarian aid and ceasefires during the conflict in Gaza.

He noted that the death toll among Palestinians nears 42,000. Bishara emphasised that the US's actions suggest complicity in a genocide in Gaza.

Donald Trump’s bible racket tells you everything you need to know about Trump:

They cost Trump $3 each; he sells them for $60.

These “God Bless the USA” bibles are made in China.

They contain the Constitution, BUT, without the amendments that abolish slavery, provide equal protection under the law, establish the right to vote regardless of race, establish women’s right to vote and presidential term limits.

Do you have a link/source confirming the omissions? I don't see that mentioned in the linked AP article. Thanks.
in reply to emeritrix

@anarchademic That stood out to me too. Here’s an article mentioning it: meidasnews.com/news/amendment-…

but it sounds like they base that on viewing youtube videos about it, so it’s not rigorously sourced.

in reply to adamrice

@adamrice @anarchademic notably from that "Trump's Bible jumps from the original Constitution to the Bill of Rights and then to the Pledge of Allegiance, skipping constitutional amendments 11-27." So it's not targeting those specifically, it's leaving out everything not considered original founder content.
in reply to Alan Miller 🇺🇦

@fencepost @adamrice @anarchademic The Pledge of Allegence isn't "original founder content," and, in any event: Why take them out, founder content or not? Did the founders, who owned slaves and didn't let women vote, have it right, according to Trump? Is that the message?
in reply to Mike Elgan

@hotdogsladies

I can’t help but hear “these god bless the USA bibles are made in china” in the Project Farm voice.

This is Merlin’s fault.

now I want a shootout to see which bible can withstand the most torque.

the article starts with this paragraph ☞

In a scene from the The Rings of Power, Amazon's lavish but somewhat unloved Lord of the Rings prequel, a mob of sword-wielding, scaly-faced orcs go at Sauron like a table of famished diners at a bloody steak. Seemingly vanquished, the wannabe Dark Lord pulls off a disappearing trick only to return as a misshapen tangle of black fibers, gorging on vermin and eventually people until he is rebuilt in human form, albeit unrecognizable.
