The Oculus is so photogenic it feels like it was built just for photographers… or pigeons with good taste.

On today's bike-ride to Fowlis Wester, I discovered a list of historical ministers and readers in the parish church.

Some of the reasons for their departure caused a raised eyebrow...

* deposed for royalist sympathies
* deposed and imprisoned for praying for the king
* fled the parish before the Earl of Mar's army
* Found unacceptable and compelled to resign
