Those in the path of the #Florida #hurricane be aware: if you have a cheap FRS radio you can use it to communicate with #hamradio operators. Often they can pass messages to first responders and relay welfare messages to loved ones.

If your an admin of a #Mastodon instance and are familiar with Go, here's a quick bot I threw together to monitor for new posts in the current spam wave and automatically report them (you could easily modify it to delete them I just wanted to catch any false positives).
There's also a list of all the servers I've seen spam coming from in there, and a patch that's needed for go-mastodon because it's currently crashing if you send a report with it.

Thunderbird for Android has reached beta testing, and you can grab it from the Google Play Store. A version should follow on the #FOSS F-Droid store soon.
Thunderbird for Android is not a ground-up new project but is based on the existing #K9Mail application, which is 15 years old: it débuted late in October 2008. I installed the beta, and it describes itself as version 8.0b2.

Some quick research says LMDE 6 is OK with secure boot, so I'll leave it on for now.
