Spent time last night decoupling the audio player from the audio player screen in #viv.

This is needed so I don't have duplicate code in both the regular audio player and the mini player.

After this? I have to move the screensaver code in the same way. Because Roku won't move through songs when their screensaver is player. 😐

Good morning. ☕☕☕

10 October 2024

I paid the contractor who I hired to build a pergola, the second installment of the cost to build. I withheld the last installment because he needs to replace a beam, that he pieced together from three boards, with a single board. He told me that I could trust him, and I do. He is a great guy who does great work. But business is business, and I've heard the words "you can trust me" from other contractors in the past. Oh, they usually come back to complete the work or address a problem, but after they've been paid, your job steeply drops on their list of priorities.

I've learned the hard way not to pay the whole sum before the work is finished as it should. Works great 😊

@Swede1952.. and by the way: sorry about complainig so much yesterday. . Just a temporary slip. Will improve hopefully.
in reply to R.Marx

@Beasley

No worries. It didn’t really sound like complaining. More like disappointment in a plan not coming together because of unforeseen circumstances.

in reply to Swede’s Photographs

you're right. And frustration for losing (temporarily) some abilities/competences. . Time will do its part, I guess.

Hurricane Milton knocked out power for millions of people.

Power outages affect more than 3.3 million customers in Florida, out of the 11.5 million customers tracked by poweroutage.us (which collects data from utilities). Milton made landfall as an “extremely dangerous category 3 hurricane” Wednesday night.

Correction: It is 11.5 million customers, not 11.5.

The Edinburgh Review, a reforming quarterly, is first published.

Among the most notable of the foreign publications it observed was Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Discourse on Inequality, which Adam Smith reviewed in the journal's second and final issue, published in March 1756.

According to @wikipedia, "the first Edinburgh Review was a short-lived venture initiated in 1755 by the Select Society". The above cited journal corresponds to its third edition - "the best known, longest-lasting, and most influential of the four was the third, which was published regularly from 1802 to 1929."

@KensAudio @wikipedia

A short-lived magazine with similar purposes, Edinburgh Magazine and Review, was published monthly between 1773 and 1776.

The third Edinburgh Review (1802-1929) became one of the most influential British magazines of the 19th century.

Ah, I thought the numbers referred to issues or editions, not whole incarnations of the publication.
Thanks.

The UN says Israeli troops have opened fire at three positions held by UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon.

Earlier this week, the UNIFIL force refused a request from the Israeli military to vacate bases near the border.

UNIFIL had said on Sunday that it was "deeply concerned by recent activities" by the Israeli military near a peacekeeper position in southwestern Lebanon.

“What then is the proper solution for climate arson and human rights abuses? Is it universally binding supply chain legislation? Is it jail time for CEOs? Is it the requisitioning of company profits to build flood defences and compensate workers … Does it mean brands and retailers giving up purchasing practices that force suppliers to meet ridiculously low prices? I guess that depends on what price you put on having a liveable planet.” – @tansy
