A VHS tape cover for the movie "La Cible". The cover features a man's face in close-up, with a large, white circle in the bottom right corner that says "Version Française" in blue text. Below the circle is text that reads "Ne chassez pas ce que vous ne pouvez tuer." The text above the man's face reads "Un film de John Woo" and "La Cible (V.f. de "Hard Target")" in bold, white text. The cover also has a small "R" rating in the bottom left corner, and a "MCA Universal Pictures Canada" logo in the bottom right corner.

After a bit of digging I think this is the work of Friends of the Orphan Signs, a group that puts letters on abandoned signs in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Here’s another one they did on the Donut Mart sign orphansigns.org

@Muse - Our local professional company, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, used to be filled with refugees from the Royal Shakespeare Company; they were never mic-ed, they knew how to project their voices, even if that involved a lot of spitting. Younger actors seem to have less skill with voice articulation and projection - and thus need to be mic-ed and backed by a good sound reinforcement system run by someone who knows their stuff.

That lack of skill of articulation and projection seems to have hit TV and movies hard, and badly. We are surprised at how many new TV shows we have to pause and go back to try to understand what was said, even to the point of turning on captioning. It's rather difficult to forgive TV/film people for poor capture of comprehensible voice - it's rather a sign that the director's attention is more on the scenery than on the actors or the story.

Aaaand.... Trying to make Arwen happy... 🐾

I'm intending on some gaming today. So, as I thought the weather would be OK enough, we just headed to the Herperduin.

There's some wets falling from the trees as there's a slight drizzle. And... I forgot to add new cookies to my pocket, so I hope I have enough 🫣...

But we're in the woods and Arwen is getting all the sniffs.

No ball yet, as she's not allowed to swim yet. But... It is warm enough for her to paddle through the low water a bit when we get there.

🌊 The Decorator Crab: A Master of Disguise 🦀🌺
Look at this incredible crab! It's a decorator crab, also known as a coral crab. It's covered in colorful anemones and sponges, which it uses for camouflage and protection.
Fun Fact: Decorator crabs carefully select and attach these organisms to their shells, creating a unique and personalized disguise

End of Halloween, time for some funny news. 😉 A new, weekly, usual, development report from my #opensource projects is ready: this week 3 things were on the table: a roguelike game (written in #Nim), a multiplatform command line shell (also written in Nim) and a Nim binding to Nuklear GUI library got some changes and updates. 'Hamas entered UNRWA and took everything,' Gazan staffer says

cross-posted from: lemmy.world/post/21523457

Gazan staffer says
IDF releases interrogation with UNRWA worker in Gaza describing how terror group operatives took over UNRWA facilities and vehicles and looted aid meant for civilians for their personal use

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit on Thursday released a video clip from the interrogation of a Gazan staffer of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees UNRWA who described how Hamas used the organization's facilities as their own. "They see UNRWA vehicles as a form of protection,” he said.

The IDF are known torturers and murderers, any testimony from the people they interrogate is essentially worthless as evidence.
