This is one of the few conspiracy theories about big tech that I believe is true. Whenever you ask people at Google what it’s like to work there, they describe a Byzantine bureaucracy which seems designed to prevent work from actually getting done due to multiple layers of approvals.
Better to have Ph.D’s on the payroll endlessly seeking approvals to ship the smallest changes than at OpenAI.
