One of Trump's most insidious lies is that he supports "free speech." The opposite is true.
"We’d have a national ban on pornography if we could," Russ Vought, the radical Christian extremist who was Trump's top budget official, said in a secretly recorded interview. theintercept.com/2024/08/16/pr…
Vought also said Trump only pretends to distance himself from them, and that he'll have zero problem getting Trump to do what he says. cnn.com/2024/08/15/politics/ru…

I've been at the point with #linux where I don't need to care about much of anything low level for regular use for well over a decade now.
The only time I end up having to - deservedly - deep dive is when I'm doing dev things.
Believe me when I say, everyone should be running some kind of linux desktop in this day and age.
Programming language design should follow the half of Postel’s Principle that says be “conservative in what you send.” There should be one way to do anything, not many. That way I can include your code in mine and vice versa. I can understand what you’re doing. Tools can be developed that make it even easier to do things the only way they work. New programming languages if they really are necessary should strive to simplify the programming model, there should be less things for the developer to worry about, the more easily new ideas can be developed, the less attention you have to pay to how you’ll do something over what it does. I actually don’t support the other half of Postel, in everything but user interface where I do support it. I don’t think in general software interfaces should be liberal with what they understand because that defeats the first half. They sort of zero each other out.
October surprise: Trump just blew a huge lead, and the Madison Square Garden rally started the drop, says top data scientist fortune.com/2024/11/02/electio…

Yeah, skeptical about the lead, but love that he might think he lost a huge lead! LOL.
Cool, instead of regular, premium and super premium or whatever that higest grade I've never bought might be, the charging stations advertise on how much amperage can go through the cables.
I'm thinking that it's too bad they can't provide some more diversity in pricing though just so it looks better.
Anyways, vote for decarbonization please!

A message from the family of @stevesilberman
Hi everyone -
A reminder that the memorial for our beloved friend, husband, brother, and all-around mensch Steve Silberman will take place on Saturday, November 9, at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco, 1187 Franklin Street (at Geary). Doors will open at 1:30 and the ceremony will start at 2:00, with a reception to follow.
For those who can't attend in person, the webcast will be hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Society's YouTube channel: youtube.com/@UUSFMedia
They will keep the video available for a couple weeks, so that folks who are busy on the day of the event can watch it later, but at that point we will ask them to take it down. Like life itself, this ceremony is an ephemeral event.
With much love,
Keith and Hillary

We have two unique opportunities in three days:
We can make history by electing Kamala Harris.
And we can end Donald Trump’s career in politics.
Every dollar you donate this weekend allows us to reach more voters in the states and districts that will decide the election! Please pitch in if you can. secure.actblue.com/donate/2024…
My Mail-in Ballot has been counted!
That's one more vote for Kamala Harris and Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in Rural Florida! 🙂
96% of the planet does not have a vote in the US elections. But whoever leads the US will have a profound effect on the entire planet.
When asked about climate change, Trump boasted about getting richer by drilling for oil. (youtube.com/watch?v=pl1Rnz4zNk…)
On vaccines, he wants an anti-vaxxer in charge of health (theguardian.com/us-news/2024/n…). Millions could die from this, especially in developing nations that depend on US aid.
On nuclear weapons, Trump wants legal immunity so he can use them (vice.com/en/article/trump-nucl…).
If you are one of the privileged lucky 4% who do have a vote, *please* use it to stop him, for the sake of all humanity. 🙏

p.s. There are lots of resources for voting in US elections here:
➡️ vote.org
Vote.org is a non-partisan site which includes advice on how to vote, local voting info for each state, and a national phone hotline to contact if someone tries to stop you voting.
If you want official government info on voting, that's a different site at:
➡️ vote.gov
If you have a vote, please use it. Most of the vulnerable people depending on you to stop Trump have no vote in this election (see the post above).
Good luck everyone ❤️

in reply to Matthew Sheffield • • •Trump himself constantly sues and intimidates news organizations.
Right after the Washington Post cancelled doing endorsements in response to Trump's constant threats and intimidation, he's ramped up the intimidation even further by filing an FEC complaint against the paper as it tried to placate angry former readers donaldjtrump.com/news/9f32d703…
