In case you missed it, Window Maker Live was updated last week and is based on Debian bookworm. It integrates with the GNUStep desktop environment. Here it is running on my almost 20 year old ThinkPad T43p (released April 2005) this afternoon. There is an amd64 and an i686 version available. The developer has tested it on a T23 with 1GB of RAM.

Window Maker Live running on a ThinkPad T43p at a resolution of 1600x1200. This is a GNUStep-like environment. In the screenshot, the desktop wallpaper is an indigo gradient from dark to purple, in observation of Winter Solstice. There are three applications running: a web browser, a GNUStep Terminal, and the GNUStep Chess application. All three applications have early 90's NeXTStep style widgets and scrollbars. There are multiple open menus on the desktop, as well as a NextStep-style dock on the right side. The terminal is running the neofetch command. It reveals that this is a Debian GNU/Linux 12 base, running on i686 architecture. This is a ThinkPad T43p running the latest 6.10.11 backport kernel. The processor is an Intel Pentium M 2.26GHz with one core. The GPU is an AMD ATI Mobility FireGL V3200. There are 2GB of RAM available, of which one GB is in use. The web browser shows the Mastodon account of user jdkiser@sdf.org.
