December 21, 2020 – Trump spoke with aides about appointing his former attorney, Sidney Powell, as special counsel to investigate supposed voter fraud. But William Barr, the president’s outgoing attorney general, said he saw no reason to do so. “I’m not going to,” he said.

#FourYearsAgoToday #AreYouBetterOff
December 21, 2020 – Trump met with Mike Pence and a dozen congressional Republicans at the White House, strategizing for more than three hours about how to overturn the results of the presidential election. The Electoral College, however, confirmed Joe Biden as the next president on December 14.

Germany-based #SovereignTechFund contributes 384.000 EUR to #OpenStreetMap over two years. And the best part: it's not for fancy features big sponsors think they need, but for technical debt removal, documentation, testing infrastructure, vandalism prevention, and two additional paid roles.
@sovtechfund once again made a great choice and continues to follow their strategy of sustainable support of critical #OpenSource projects, which @openstreetmap definitely is.

Statement from President Joe Biden
on the Bipartisan Government Funding Bill
The bipartisan funding bill I just signed
keeps the government open
and delivers the urgently needed disaster relief
that I requested for recovering communities
as well as the funds needed to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
This agreement represents a compromise,
which means neither side got everything it wanted.
But it rejects the accelerated pathway to a tax cut for billionaires that Republicans sought,
and it ensures the government can continue to operate at full capacity.
That’s good news for the American people,
especially as families gather to celebrate this holiday season.
The European Space Agency has launched a pair of spacecraft on a mission to create artificial solar eclipses. The plan is to help scientists get a better understanding of the sun, including why the corona is hotter than the sun itself. Read more @npr:
Yes. Michael Moore:
"The anger is 1000% justified. It is long overdue for the media to cover it. It is not new. It has been boiling. And I’m not going to tamp it down or ask people to shut up. I want to pour gasoline on that anger.
Because this anger is not about the killing of a CEO. If everyone who was angry was ready to kill the CEOs, the CEOs would already be dead."
I just came across the word ‘mockney’ for the first time. Apparently it means, in short, fake cockney:
‘pronunciation of English by someone who pretends to speak like a cockney, in order to seem as if they are from a lower social class’
I like it. I don’t think we have an equivalent word in Dutch.
Indeed.
Nevertheless, we could use a similar word in Dutch, for instance to grumble about marketing campaigns that try to use hip language and fail.
