TIL the Boaty McBoatFace… event resulted in 2 things:

- The National Oceanography Center went with a different name for the vessel (Sir David Attenborough. Meh, lol) BUT they used the McBoatFace name for one the submersibles it can deploy 😆
- A new term was coined: McBoatFacing, which is “making the critical mistake of letting the internet decide things”

I once started a FB group “Friends of Mr. Splashy Pants” that helped get a whale named Mr. Splashy Pants.

I find it… odd… that the American Conservatives I know who choose not to have an opinion on the South African guy who uses Twitter to issue instructions to their legislators also using Twitter to endorse a German Nazi-curious party also choose to berate those of us who do have an opinion on the matter on the grounds of his right to freedom of speech.

I wonder how long it would take Elon Musk to paint an entire apartment (two coats).

I was on a brewery patio and my husband and I were talking about the next place we wanted to walk to and he was like "but it can kind of turn into a nightclub when it gets late" and I have this habit of saying fake stuff in a deadpan manner and HE knows I’m kidding, but anyone within earshot would be clueless, so I said "well, we could always go back and put on our clubbin' clothes" and this absolute bro who was walking past turned around to confirm (1) he heard what he heard and (2) that he really did just pass two awkward grownup indie kids in their 40s who definitely look like they don't go "clubbin'" and I responded by waving at him as if I were Forrest Gump waving to Lieutenant Dan in an effort to make the experience even more weird.

My wife has shushed me in restaurants when she can't hear what the other tables are saying.

@cgsines @noondlyt I've done the same. "Shhhh. How can you talk about important familial matters when we're SO close to finding out what our table neighbor's coworker said at the holiday party!"

Why I never want to use Paint.NET, because this shows up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

There has been a significant increase in dogs and cats being exposed to cocaine, finds 4 years of data from the Pet Poison Helpline in the US. The researchers did not find the same increasing trends for cats’ and dogs’ exposure to methamphetamine. byteseu.com/582316/ #Science

In case people miss it, the bottom 50% is actually the tiny tiny purple at the bottom. It's not the large blue one at the bottom.
