@MonaApp I see I can add users/accounts to Lists and choose to hide them from the main feed (to avoid duplicates) 👌
Is there a way to put multiple Hashtags / Words into one List with option to hide from main view too?
I’m aware of the Hashtag mute filter but that way I’m not able to collect those Hashtags into one list to read them later 🤔 (don’t like to tap several tags to read later but a list with a context containing multiple tags and/or users maybe)
Is this possible?

Commenter above you said that typical "Reddit mods" killed Reddit.
You say it was the admins.
I'm saying that the mods could have helped save the "original Reddit spirit" by facilitating the transition to Lemmy, like !ich_iel@feddit.org and !melbourne@aussie.zone did.
Mods who removed posts suggesting to transitioning to Lemmy were accomplices, probably because they didn't want to lose the power on their subs.
Thanks man. I've always given you credit for that. Or at least I remember specifically mentioning you in a couple of comments when I was lambasting the majority of reddit mods and pointing to you as the shining example of someone who stuck to their guns and did what was necessary.
Tbh I didn't realize until now that feddit.de originated from r/ich_iel mods, nor that aussie.zone originated from r/Melbourne mods. That might have something to do with you naming the instance after yourself 😅
But seriously, you're a legend and you have done so much for Lemmy. I donate to you on liberapay but it's far less than you deserve.
That might have something to do with you naming the instance after yourself 😅
The real reason was that early-on, I didn't expect it to go very far and just used a subdomain on dbzer0.com which I've had for years. I now wish I had chosen a more catchy domain name, but alas :D
And thank you for your kind words (and donation)
Agreed. I highly recommend choosing a different instance for your account.
The mods on !worldnews@lemmy.world and other communities routinely ban posters that don’t violate the rules, just because they don’t like their political opinion.
See !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com for some discussion around mods‘ abuse of power.
Oh damn, I too initially left reddit during the API BS, but I didn't see any of that.
What instance was that? (Was it one of the Tankie Triad?(Hexbear, Lemmygrad or Lemmy.ml?))
A lot of us use voyager, modeled after apollo, but any lemmy UI is a good UI in my book.
There is also the lemmy explorer out there to help you find communities. lemmyverse.net/communities

I got sitewide banhammered from Reddit for my absent-minded use of the report button instead of using modmail
Even though I was polite in the message Reddit claimed it was mod harassment
It's been over a week and they still haven't responded to my appeal
It won't let me submit another appeal because it says I've already submitted one
I've been on reddit for over 10 years, seems like an odd way to end it.
I'll have to admit though, Lemmy is pretty sweet. I even got Sync back!
Yea, I would do the same IRL to tell people visiting my city for the first time about the "bad parts of town" just the same
It's disingenuous otherwise to hide such info
I got banned for speaking out about Israel's crimes and saying Netenyahu and his cabinet need to be hanged for their crimes.
Since I am here, I will say that a trial is unnecessary.
Edit: Also, if someone make an account on a small instance and just search and subscribe to everything, then it would make sure the communities are synched. (someone please go do that)
Lemmy Federate streamlines this.
Lemmy Federate
Lemmy Federate is a tool to federate new communities in the Lemmyverse.lemmy-federate.com
Just got a nearly 10 year old Reddit account permabanned because someone I share my computer with commented on a sub that banned me.
The admins didn't even have a look at my first appeal, sending an automatic message instead and won't have a look at any further appeal, so here I am.
This is the way.
People talk about decision paralysis when joining a Fediverse instance but I quickly spotted a UK one, signed up and never looked back.
Just wait until you find out that the admins have been keeping all the blackjack and hookers to ourselves 🤫
Dessalines told us it was okay because we were the vanguard party.
A post of an article calling for federated social media got big. A comment on said post pointing to Lemmy got 100s of upvotes. Reddit mods deleted the comment.
I'd suggest that the short version is "don't worry about it".
The slightly longer version is that the Lemmy equivalent of a subreddit will have a kind of home-base instance (eg. based on lemmy.world or aussie.zone or whatever else). For the most part, it makes no difference. But some lemmy instances might choose to block certain content. (For example, they might block all porn content or something); and so depending on where you signed up, you may see a slightly different selection of posts on your feed.
You're on aussie.zone. You can see a list of what is linked & blocked for you here.
The first post on this community to get 1k upvotes. 👍
Keep up the good work everyone.
It's the constellation of federated web services all communicating with each other through a shared protocol.
Imagine if Web 2.0 had dawned with someone inventing a way for all the blogs, forums, wikis and social media to talk to each other, instead of Big Web tempting people into walled gardens. Well we're now back on that better timeline and making up for lost time.
Just wait until you find out that the admins have been keeping all the blackjack and hookers to ourselves 🤫
Definitely not a thing.
Anyway, these instances don't run themselves, back to the grindstone...

Federated Universe, or open social web as some have come to call it. It refers to many services that use the same protocol ActivityPub for their backend. Different software uses it a little differently but a shared backend is how for example you can get people commenting here from their Mastadon or Mbin account.
It can be tough to describe without getting too much into unnecessary details. Other big things is instances. Basically anyone can download the hosting software for one of these sevices such as Lemmy. Once it's run it becomes and instance of the Lemmy software and then connects to the broader network of Lemmy servers.
Hope that didn't make things more confusing. The main benefit for you is if you find you disagree with the admins where you signed up you don't need to abandon the platform as whole, you can just look around for an instance that's run in a way that more aligns with your views.
My instance, while one of the biggest, is small enough that I can directly chat with the the handful of admins if I have any concerns or questions. This works for me. Plus it being hosted close to me is good for latency.
Edir: and happy new year to you too! Hope you enjoy the time you spend it here.

Whether you're on desktop or mobile there are many alternative frontends to Lemmy.

Yea, for these scenarios I'd recommend posting in the more generalized versions like !sciencefiction@lemmy.world and tag it with something like [Question] and then maybe cross-post it to the actual !asksciencefiction@lemmy.world to hopefully generate some traffic in the future
Lemmy is still a bit small to have a bunch of hyper-focused comms like Reddit, but maybe some day!

The existence of intersex people should be enough to convince a rational person that sex is not strictly binary. The fact that I, as a transsexual, have made myself intersex should convince a rational person that sex is not immutable. But rationality is in short supply and this is a great video.

However nasty the weather is where you are, it's worse on WASP-127b. This planet has howling winds blowing at 9 km/sec (20,000 mph). Temperatures drop 175° C (315° F) across its night side.
WASP-127b is also a weird puffball, less dense than balsa wood! What a world.

2/ Side note wondering if the the #Linux #Kernel boot logger is what we'll all be using sooner or later:
'"drm_log is a simple logger that uses the drm_client API to print the [#LinuxKernel's] kmsg boot log on the screen. This is not a full replacement to fbcon, as it will only print the kmsg. It will never handle user input, or a terminal because this is better done in userspace."'

User B: configured to only follow some hashtags (I had to follow the same bubble though to limit the amount though)
User A (me): follow B and put B into a List.
Now: can i hide all postings in the „B“-List from the „A“-Main-Timeline?
Will this work because the postings have the same id? Or won’t this work because it’s a feed from user B and not the original posts in that sense? 🤔
