Of Donald Trump, geopolitics & the printing industry byteseu.com/674031/ #Geopolitics

As we head into this probable shitshow of a year, please keep a #journal to remember things that happen. In addition to my daily journal that helps me with my ADHD, I’m keeping a “What A Year” journal, in which I list remarkable things that happened on a week-by-week basis.

It helps to keep me #mindful and provide perspective.

in reply to Phil

I try to write down everything that isn’t routine. That’s it!

I use Obsidian, which can start a daily note with a key combo. I write things down like

- I took the dog to the vet. The vet adjusted medication XXX to YYY.
- I washed the car.
- I read 10 pages of book ABC.
- I met person DEF. We talked about GHI.

And I paste links to web pages that I read, news that I come across, etc, with the default titles.

I write this down whenever I complete an activity; I don’t wait for the end of the day. The anticipation to be able to succinctly write down a summary of some current activity keeps me mindful and present, and focused on what I’m trying to do at the moment.

Also I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been able to search or leaf through my journal to help me remember things.

Interesting; thanks! I get a little of this by virtue of being on the billable hour1️⃣, but it seems like it could help with time blindness, which I definitely struggle with at times.

Big, big props to Emily Skrutskie’s Bloodright trilogy, just finished the final book in a downright binge. Read the last few pages with a huge smile.

Over the top, space battles galore, sweet central queer relationship plus found family.

I knew that SMS messages weren't secure but this was still startling.

“You might as well think of them as postcards,” said Daniel Kahn Gillmor, senior staff technologist at the American Civil Liberties Union. “Everybody along the path can see them.”

A quote from Daniel K Gillmor that didn't make the final draft:

“The act of switching to an encrypted messenger is a social act, it is a community-oriented act, and it is a beneficial act.”

Build community, one encrypted message at a time.

I’m figuring out a good way to follow and share news of Democratic state AGs, who, as a group, are much more aggressive against Republican Fascism than many Dems in Congress. In the meantime, you can learn more about the coalition of Democratic Attornies General here: dems.ag/

A Democratic attorney general sounds like a good thing to have. We gotta get one of those.

Day 2: Dare to push against dogma, get called for exile. They're trying to intimidate us into silence. Dr. King (remember him? Something about a day yesterday?) said that if they threaten our rights, we must be ready to "fill up the jails”-- that is, gum up the works totally. Don't back down.
