"Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Nevada, and Arizona—states that all went for Trump—are the most reliant on that funding, and the most likely to lose hundreds of teachers under Trump’s proposals."

This little motherfucker.

“Under the auspices of dismantling the ‘deep state,’ Elon Musk has become something of a deep state unto himself—an unelected, unaccountable billionaire running roughshod over the United States government, with little apparent constraint from those who the American people actually elected.” - Eric Lutz

Are there any #freesoftware / #opensource projects that have some easy wins if they just had a little extra time? I have a lot of leeway with how I spend my work time (well, it varies wildly week to week, but most afternoons I do have a little time).

I'll have to think strategically about my skillset and the needs of my customers, but I'm not going to limit the type of project folks can reply about in any way, because someone else might want to help out in that way.

Boosts welcome!

Tech Cyborg reshared this.

in reply to Doug Whitfield [Minneapolis]

I always think it's weird to say boosts welcome. Boost all of my posts if you want. If you don't want you stuff boosted, don't put it on the fediverse...

...but I guess a reminder doesn't hurt every once in a while.

in reply to Luka Prin/ce Lucija

@luka fair enough. I'd still be concerned about screenshots but I guess if you have a meticulously crafted follower list
in reply to Luka Prin/ce Lucija

@luka I guess really the point is the boost button is there. it's not there on follower-only posts. I just think it's weird to say on a public post but I see people do it.
in reply to Doug Whitfield [Minneapolis]

"boosts welcome" is just a polite way to say "please boost this", a request that you need or want larger reach then just because people would immediately think of boosting, but either you are seeking help about something, or looking for a job, or need a biggest possible sample for a poll, etc. people normally boost when they think their followers would really benefit from seeing the post, but when "boosts are welcome" it means you can help the OP the get as many eyeballs on their post

Bird on a Branch

When I was a teenager, someone once told me that blue and green don't match. I'm not sure why it's important to match, but that's what I was told. During the summer, when taking photographs, I often get these forest green backgrounds because, well, there's a forest. Anyway, I think the blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) and the forest go just fine together.

I remember a saying ‘blue and green should never be seen without another colour in between’.
in reply to Rickd6

@Rickd6

Hmmm ... those rhymes, it could be the start of a poem.

Blue and green
should never be seen
without another color in between
Add a dash of white
or a hint of gold,
and suddenly it all looks bold.

😆👍

in reply to Rickd6

@Rickd6 we used to day red and green should never been seen except in the washing machine 🤷‍♀️😊
in reply to Nomad13

@Nomad13 @Rickd6

Oh, another poem:

red and green
should never be seen
except in the washing machine.
But mix them right,
and you'll be keen
on festive hues that gleam and glean.

🧑‍🎄👍

The Rules for Colours were designed by people with no imagination and an urgent need to criticize anyone with talent.

Donald Trump has said, while sitting with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, "They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize. I deserve it, but they will never give it."

Why not give #Trump a Nobel @unusual_whales ? After all they gave that murderous uncle tom, o-bomb-ya, a #NobelPrize, and he killed at least a million BROWN SKINNED humans. American humans too. What WAS the name of that son of a US turncoat to islam... allegedly a "terrorist', who never committed ONE CRIME? Neither had his father If I recall... Can YOU remember, Whale? #obama #genocide

the joke is that everyone is expecting him to act like the Mickey in Steamboat Willie, singing and dancing along, but he has the nihilism of a 13 year old and the lifelong ennui of a hundred year old cartoon.

@kopio That does sound quite euphemistic.
