In 2010 the Chinese government "warned" the committee that if the Peace prize was awarded to Liu Xiaobo it would incur their anger and even sour relations between China and Norway. Liu Xiaobo became the Peace laureate.
If Trump threatens the Nobel committee, that could ensure Zelenskyy's award. (I think he deserves it in any case.)

in reply to azteclady • • •sadly that kind of phoenix company bullshit is a common feature of, at least, UK company law, and it's usually done to shirk debts - limited liability companies don't pay their bills, go into liquidation, then a new company arises that somehow has all the same people in it, but none of them can be pursued for the bills. [a little overlap, and the old company can "sell" all its assets to the new company for a token sum before going into liquidation.] ED: the bracketed bit isn't necessary; English insolvency law specifically allows for pre-pack administrations, wherein the successor company bids for, and buys, the assets of the preceding company - which is what happened with Boundless / Unbound.
but of course, those assets are usually physical. not licences to intellectual property specifically written to be easy to terminate! oops... someone wasn't paying attention there
