#Google calls for weakened #copyright and export rules in #AI policy proposal - techcrunch.com/2025/03/13/goog…
in reply to Glyn Moody

from slave labour to pollution, data harvesting to copyright theft... it would seem industry can't make an honest buck once it gets to a certain size. Break 'em up I say!

The EU still wants "full implementation" of a 2023 agreement allowing cross-border data flows with the U.S., says Micheal McGrath, commissioner for democracy, justice, the rule of law and consumer protection

therecord.media/lawmaker-data-…

When speaking out against genocide becomes a crime, when standing up for human rights leads to detention or deportation, we are no longer living in a democracy—we’re living under repression disguised as law.

What they are doing to Khalil is a test run. If they can silence Palestinians demanding justice, they can silence anyone who dares to challenge empire, apartheid, or injustice anywhere in the world.

Kudos to my amazingly talented and brave USDS colleague, Daisy Kid Henderson, for putting herself out there to help get the word out about the mushroom cloud of destruction which DOGE is wreaking throughout the federal government.

Rather than saying anything more than that, I'm going to let this article and Daisy speak for themselves. Please read.

I’d love to know for how long the committee met before deciding what the URL should look like.

A great conversation by the co-founders of #fedihost in #Montreal #canada the #fediverse managed hosting provider about monetizing, or more accurately, sustaining these services. It would take a lot less than you probably think.

Monetizing The Fediverse

How will talented multi-instrumentalist Victor Dyotte get paid if he becomes a fedi-first artist? Paige and Victor discuss the challenge of the fediverse, which seems less about getting donations, and more about figuring out a better model than advertising to cover server costs.

thanks for taking the time to chat:)

I'm not sure if you're creating or viewing content on peertube, but if you're not uploading, you really don't need an account, since you can follow accounts from mastodon directly. When you comment, it will show up on that instance like any other conversation :)

First I'd suggest following the hashtag #peertube which helps to randomly discover videos without necessarily searching.

There is also sepiasearch.org

@corujinhaburaqueira Also just to point out, if you see a video you like and want to follow them from mastodon you can copy their username or the url of the video into the search bar, then follow.

It works a bit like RSS, so once you subscribe you won't see the whole catalogue of videos of that user, only the videos they post from after the sub. They'll show up as regular posts:)

Anyway, have fun!
