…but so many need money, energy, and some help…

Moving house involves a lot of things! I’ve gotten the keys on July 1st last year, we moved my stuff in the weekend of the 13-14th of that month. And then… There was still so much to do…

For those new to this blog, I learned in December 2023 that I was offered a small house. Totally unexpected, but exactly what I was hoping for! It was in a totally new area to me, so it meant leaving Cuijk after more than 20 years… And autism, ADHD, and changes…. Especially as I had never expected to be offered the house… I was not prepared!

I got help from my parents. I started the preparations as soon as I’ve said yes to accepting the house. Making lists, checking the webs for all that I had to do, making more lists, starting to pack… Yes, the first boxes had been packed before 2024, had began.

I got the keys in the afternoon of July 1st. I had some things with me. The real work would start the next day. I found out that the work I had planned for the house had to be adjusted. The walls needed a primer! Which meant extra costs and extra work! And… Extra time and energy… A sweety friend helped a bit with some of the primer, for which I was very grateful. I had hoped to paint it all before they would come fit in the floors on the 11-12th. But it was so much work, especially upstairs, and I was glad to have downstairs done. Sort of…

The move happened. Then we started to make the house a home. But… Things didn’t all go as planned. And some walls got smudged with things. The walls I had worked so hard on to make them white…

So, the upstairs area still needs most of the paint, as I’ve only done one wall with primer and paint, and one big wall with primer. But the rooms are so high, and working with a ladder and telescope roller is very hard for me… So, of I wanna get those walls done, I definitely am going to need help. Especially as there are many things in the rooms now… But all the smudges downstairs, they trigger me, and I really just wanna get a brush and paint and just paint over those smudges!

I still need to do the gardens. But the weeds come back before you can blink your eyes! So I need to do it properly, and then add a root cloth to prevent the weeds from coming back so soon. But, that takes money, decent weather, and energy, to do. I also still need cloth to cover the fence of the backyard, as some privacy would be nice. I’m hoping to get that this month, so I can be in the garden and house without everyone most looking in… It will require less energy, but it will cost money…

I have little shelf that I need to spray paint purple metallic. To do that, I will need decent weather, so I can do this in the garden. I’m definitely not the best with the spray, but the shelf isn’t really proper enough to use it as it is. Once that is done, I need help to hang it. And then I can unpack several things again, which are meant to go on that shelf.

There are still things that need to be sorted and either put in the storage area or they need to be unpacked. But as I still need to paint so much, I also wanna keep some stuff I don’t need yet sorted in the boxes, so I don’t have to pack them again when I can finally get that painting done. Ugh..

When the painting of the walls has been done, I’ll need more help! The stairs need some sanding, and then I need to paint them and get those stair cover style things on them…

Still so much to do! But my friends have jobs, they live further away, and I feel like I should not be asking for help all the time… 😔 And, seeing my fake hip decided to act up, I need a surgery this year. Meaning I can do a little less at the moment, and I need time to recover and rehab… I don’t know a time frame yet, as it depends if I have an infection that needs to be treated first… Ugh…

I know there things are not things that needs to be done for a certain date. But some do trigger me, and I “just” wanna get them done and sorted. So, maybe when I’m having a good day, I should just get that paint and touch up some of the spots. I’m just afraid that I mess the paint on the floor…. Or on things that I can’t properly move far enough to not spatter there… 😔

Moments like these, I wish I had either more money, so I could just pay someone to do these things for me, and have them done professionally. Or, I wish I had a partner, so that we could tackle these things together and get them done more easily. Being alone does have pros, but there are definitely some cons as well…

Ah well, let’s see what I can get done. Hopefully, I can get the cloth for the fence soon, I’ll need to ask dad if he wants to go to the hardware store with me, and see if we can get some soon. When the weather will be decent, I’ll see if I can get some weeds gone from the gardens… (as I write this, my “equipment” is still with a neighbor, so I’ll need to get it from them first; but as we still have some freezing nights, it’s not the best time to work in the garden yet, at least not in the mornings). 😊

Hopefully, I can get some of the chores crossed off the list, sooner rather than later I guess… 🤞🏻 🍀
