Lamenting the situation underway in Israeli cities following the impact of retaliatory strikes by Iran, Israeli Channel 12 was particularly alarmed by the situation in Tel Aviv, “the city that never rests.” It indicated that the city was forced to a standstill by Iran’s missiles.

“Known for its constant bustle and noise, it suddenly appeared deserted,” the channel revealed, explaining how everyone is packing their bags to leave.

“explaining how everyone is packing their bags to leave [Tel Aviv].”

@EndIsraeliApartheid wow, makes you wonder why people didn’t just leave Gaza when the war started there…. oooohhh yeah, the fucking blockade and the walls and armed IOF guards and all that shit.

I read yesterday that 82% of Jewish Israelis support the actions of their government.

So they are in favor of war, but flee immediately when there is a war.

Gaza’s healthcare system is collapsing under the weight of Israel’s genocide.

Children are among the hardest hit. According to the Health Cluster, children now account for 23 percent of amputations, 26 percent of spinal cord injuries, 33 percent of traumatic brain injuries, and 70 percent of burn cases requiring surgery.

Yet, there are no specialized rehabilitation services for children anywhere in Gaza.

At least four Palestinians were killed on Sunday in an Israeli airstrike and 22 were wounded while waiting for humanitarian aid, according to a local hospital.

The airstrike targeted the built-up Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, according to Al-Awda Hospital, where the bodies were brought.

It said another 22 people were wounded while waiting for aid trucks.

Five months. That’s how long it took Donald Trump to get the United States into another Middle East war after he had told everyone he would “stop the chaos in the Middle East.”

Trump, who proclaimed upon his inauguration he wanted to be remembered as a “peacemaker,” couldn’t even wait a half a year into his term to do the thing that he had told everyone he wouldn’t do, and which he built his entire political brand on opposing.

Long-dead Nasa space probe suddenly emits ‘incredibly powerful’ energy blast byteseu.com/1130484/ #Energy

On Saturday night, U.S. warplanes attacked three Iranian nuclear sites, marking the first time the U.S. has attacked on Iranian soil in the decades-long cold war between the two countries.

The escalation was met with jubilation from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had relentlessly pushed for the operation.

Likewise, Trump’s hardline supporters praised the act of war.

MORNING ALL!

Today is the 9th anniversary of the Brexit vote.

How do we all think it’s gone so far?

in reply to Mike Galsworthy 🦣

@Mike Galsworthy 🦣 The question is weirdly phrased by focusing on the vote aspect of Brexit, but I'd guess people still answered about whether it was right or wrong to leave the EU.

If people answered the actual question, it wouldn't say much about their opinion on the leaving aspect itself.

in reply to Mike Galsworthy 🦣

Ireland has quietly gained massively from the UK's self-imposed sanctions. Our farmers are eating your farmers' lunch. Dublin has gained thousands of financial services jobs from London. Many new ferry services (lost cabotage for UK). Amazon.ie didn't exist. Most no longer buy much from the UK. UK's trade surplus w its 5th largest and 2nd most profitable market evaporated. Big increase in UK applications for every academic & research job. Boost to intra-EU trade.

Sorry & thanks.

@davidallengreen argues persuasively that we should celebrate the two votes in the House of Commons on abortion & assisted dying as they both indicate meaningful resistance to the illiberalism of the criminal laws's invasion of our private lives.

In both cases the work is not competed (they need to navigate the House of Lords before becoming law), but I think DAG is right to draw some positive value from these developments.

Illiberalism is not inevitable!

Another thing I'd like to add, having thought about this:

It is a very good thing that we have this convention of ethical decisions being removed from the party whips. Many countries do not have that. Many countries make such issues explicitly a matter of party policy.

We should recognise that this is a rare and noble thing, and should fight to retain it.

Iranian officials issued stern warnings Monday following US airstrikes on three of the country's nuclear facilities, describing the attack as a direct act of war and pledging retaliation that could shift the region’s balance of power.

Iran’s Chief of Staff, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, issued a firm warning on Monday, declaring that the United States’ recent actions have crossed a red line.
