Every summer there is a fervent rush for Indian mangoes in US cities with large Indian populations (NJ, Sunnyvale etc). I participate sometimes.

Here's a story about it on the east coast: archive.ph/Su4SZ

And here's my guide to ordering them on the west coast (and what to order): buttondown.com/skinnylatte/arc…

As the first article states, the quality varies so hard because they don't often do well on the long flight. I still do it, for nostalgia and desperation, but of course it's very different compared to eating mangoes off my friends' gardens in Goa or Pune

I make the bold claim in my newsletter article above that if you’ve never had an Indian or Pakistani (Or Burmese but those are hard to get) mango before, they are as different as

- a really great cheese vs a slice of processed cheese
- a very good whisky or wine vs a boxed wine

Compared to other mangoes you might get. I still need to try Haitian mango but I don’t know where to get them on the west coast

I would love to try mangoes from other locales. Mango is my favorite. If I adore the ones we get here in the U.S.I cannot imagine the flavor explosion you are describing.

As the EU tightens controls to curb security threats, kremlin-linked elites have already slipped through — using second passports and golden visas to funnel "dirty money" into Europe and bankroll russia’s war.

Now, new doors may be opening just as old ones begin to shut.

Wrath of Man is one of such, very Guy Ritchie, very crime trillery, very Quentin Tarantino-inspired films. It has just enough cold detachment, just enough calculated precision and just enough artful pathos to make you feel the false-psychopathy of the main character played by Jason Statham.

This is a tragic story.

An illustration of the dangers of rampant disinformation and our failures to counter it.

Tragic indeed.
But the govt will still say that Twitter has more rights than those it’s killing, and can’t be impeded.
(Unlike protest, which it’s happy to shut down as terrorism)
