Since high school, I have been adamant that beginner computer programming should be a required part of the curriculum because it demystifies computers and computer programs. I got a lot of pushback from people saying that you only need to know programming if you're going to be a programmer. They didn't understand, and now here we are, with computers just a hair's breadth away from being considered literal magic.
