Thousands of Texans complained to the FCC after their phones blared a Blue Alert, it’s like an Amber Alert for when a police officer has been shot.

The law has been on the books since 2008 but people now complain that having a plethora of alerts desensitizes people to them.

so was this law added to make police feel more important, to show civilians that dead police deserve more effort than dead civilians or as a further prop up for the myth that policework is among the most dangerous jobs in the USA?

For me the issues were: this alert came even if you had all alerts off and the phone was on silent and do not disturb. And the criteria made no sense. We had had a polic officer shot in Austin where I live but no alert was sent because there was an inadequate description of the vehicle. This alert was sent even though it took place an eight hour drive away.
Should you get an amber alert in Boston for an abduction in DC?

This pic from an article in the WSJ titled:

"Welcome to Dallas: The City That Just Can’t Stop Expanding"

Nobody is talking about the "built environment." Where does the water go? Certainly not absorbed into the ground. Less permeable surfaces equals more flooding -- simple.

But yeah, let's keep sprawling. Just look at that nightmare.

I am watching the TROM II documentary series. One thing that really stood out to me in episode 2, Society, was that they said 50% of all gold is used in jewelry and 40% is used in investments. It is essentially sitting idly, doing nothing productive for society.

When you think about it, people are detached from reality when they value something sitting in a safe somewhere higher than feeding or housing people.

Our priorities are so out of whack.

The National Immigration Law Center said that ICE's detention budget would increase to $45 billion and additional $29.9 billion in funding for ICE activities.

This figure is more than the annual military budget of Italy, which at $30.8 billion, is the world's 16th highest defense spender for this year, according to tracker Global Fire Power.
