i am writing a lot of cover letters in #abiword and the traditional word processor flow plus the eye-searing white background is annoying. i'd also like to avoid banging out the cover letter in markdown in my text editor and then using #pandoc to convert it.
i'd like to be able to edit my doc and mash an export or save button for a PDF.
This will not answer directly to your question but, in the event you cannot find the editor you want (or for the comment reader in search of a solution to the same problem), you could map a key in Vim to run pandoc directly on the current file. For example, using F2:
map <F2> :update<CR> :!pandoc ~/Templates/letter.md %:p -o %:r.pdf<CR><CR>
The file "~/Templates/letter.md" would be a template file to format the PDF just the way you like, instead of the default ugly formatting.
