As a new fan of the WNBA, โattendingโ this yearโs All-Star Game was more than just entertainment, it was a lesson in what it actually takes to build something meaningful and transformative over time.
The WNBA has quickly become one of my favorite case studies in slow, intentional, values-driven growth.
I think about this often as I build The Future Is FREE, a vision of a professional and cultural landscape that is equity-centered, community-rooted, and liberation-aligned.
I know I may never fully experience the version of the world Iโm fighting for.
I know that what Iโm building might serve others more than it will serve me.
And Iโm okay with that.
Because real change, transformational change, isnโt about personal reward.
Itโs about collective inheritance.
If we truly want to disrupt the systems that harm us, we have to stop expecting immediate gratification. We have to release the need to personally benefit from the change we say we believe in. And we have to recognize that commitment without conditions is the foundation of legacy.
