The word 'ye' in names such as Ye Olde Inn ('the old inn') was originally simply pronounced 'the'.

The pronunciation with y is due to a misinterpretation of the first letter.

'Ye' originated as a second-best way of writing 'þe'. The first letter, þ, was called thorn. It was a letter for the th sound that originated in Old English.

Where did þ come from? How did it disappear? And why was it substituted by y in the word 'ye'?

@ColmDonoghue The second person plural 'ye', with its object form 'you', which later supplanted 'ye', is unrelated. This 'ye' comes from Old English 'ġē', which is related to Dutch 'jij' (you). 'Thou' and 'thee' come from Old English 'þū' and 'þē', the singular subject and object forms.

As part of the President of Ukraine’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, tennis players Elina Svitolina met with Ukrainian children who had been returned from temporarily occupied territories and deportation.

This was more than just a sports event it was a moment when children could simply be children again: laughing, playing, and feeling safe.

Okay, I just finished set 2. I got to 95. That's 200 on the day in two sets, essentially the goal I started out to hit last year. Woohoo! I'm knackered. Thanks for the love! 😘
in reply to Dallman Ross

in reply to Sebastian

@SebastianKa83 I don't take hormones or use protein shakes, etc. I do supplement with 5 mg of creatine in my breakfast (Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and kefir mixed, with a few blueberries and some nuts and seeds. I eat two small gluten-free rolls with Quark and my wife's homemade jam (⅓ the sugar) after that as part of the meal, with flaxseed (Leinsamen) and more blueberries on top. One cup of coffee with a tablespoon of collagen powder. No more coffee afterward. I stretch when I wake up. /1
in reply to Dallman Ross

@SebastianKa83 /2 I have practiced time-restricted eating (a.k.a. interval fasting) for five years and love it. No hunger. It just works. I do about 16-18 hours of it between dinner and my late breakfast. I often do a set of whatever's up that day before I eat, or at least I do a 2-minute dead hang and my stretches, in particular for my shoulder with its chronic issues. I often ride my road bike right before dinner on an intensive 40-minute training ride, so yes, essentially "nüchtern," but...
in reply to Dallman Ross

/3 I have no issues with training after a meal beyond preferring to wait at least half-an-hour.

Oh, I also take various vitamins, minerals, and amino acids in pill or softgel form.

I also take naps! Not every single day, but probably more days with naps than without in a week. And I try to get plenty of sleep. I have a lifetime of insomnia and bad sleep habits behind me. I still stay up too late. But I try to sleep until I'm well rested.

Sleep! Ja, wichtiges Thema, momentan bekomme ich definitiv zu wenig, toggler and newborn don’t allow more 😉 später schreibe ich dir noch mal.. have a nice day!
in reply to Sebastian

in reply to Sebastian

in reply to Dallman Ross

in reply to Sebastian

in reply to Sebastian

@SebastianKa83 Pull-ups und Push-ups sind doch kardiointensiv. Ich werde auch außer Atem! Mein Kardiotraining hat dabei geholfen.

The Trump administration on Thursday said it will restrict waivers that have allowed states to keep kids enrolled in Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program beyond the 12-month period of continuous coverage required under federal law.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), led by Mehmet Oz, announced the move on Thursday, saying that it has informed states of a “clear shift away from policies that extend beyond statutory limits,”
specifically restricting Section 1115 waivers that have been sought and approved in dozens of statesacross the U.S.
“CMS will allow currently approved initiatives to run out their course but does not anticipate extending them nor approving new waivers,”
the agency said in a statement, which came less than two weeks after Donald Trump signed into law the largest Medicaid cuts in U.S. history.

Sitting in a sheltered seafront garden on a windy but warm evening watching the dog and a rat run circles around each other and me.
in reply to Dan Sloane

The image depicts a garden scene with a stone pathway winding through it. In the foreground, a black and white dog is walking along the path, sniffing the ground. The garden is lush with various plants, including purple flowering shrubs and green foliage. The pathway is made of irregularly shaped stone slabs, with some grass growing between them. In the background, a large, light-colored house with a balcony and multiple windows is visible, surrounded by trees and other greenery. A street lamp is also seen on the left side of the image. The overall atmosphere is serene and well-maintained.

So, I was just outside picking and squishing (I don't mind doing that). I've tried the pepper-garlic spray method, but sometimes forget to re-apply after it rains. The bugs can be hard to spot -- they blend in with the holes they make in the leaves. And keeping plants away from each other helps (I grow potatoes, tomatoes and peppers in containers, and have seen them spread from one plant to another).

10 Natural Ways to Control #PotatoBugs [Homemade Spray & Other Remedies]

"Potato bugs, also known as the Colorado potato beetles, are small rounded yellow beetles with black stripes on their body. Both the larvae and adult bugs feed on the leaves of potato plants, which can often cause massive damage to the plants.

"They often also attack tomato, eggplant, and pepper plants. If these bugs are not controlled, they can easily kill the plants or reduce the yield heavily."
