What Can a Cell Remember?

in reply to ☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆

I'll just add a recommendation for people interested in cell intelligence. Michael Levin, a researcher found on yt, have done some very interesting experiments with cells where he revert skincell (among others) behavior, to something that look like an earlier developmental stage.

The great US novelist, short story writer, and poet Herman Melville was born #onthisday in 1819. His last long-form work was the epic poem Clarel, published in 1876 and coming in at a colossal 18,000 lines. @JWheelwrite explores: publicdomainreview.org/essay/t… #otd
in reply to The Public Domain Review

Though technically perfectly accurate, I personally struggle with the very unusual metric of "18000 lines".

At 764 pages, it's probably the longest poem in American literature, an epic effort, as well as one of the most epic American explorations of spiritual depth –if not the single most epic one.

It’s not just long... it's ambitious, dense, and thematically expansive.
But... lines? That seems anecdotal, nearly as much as how many gallons of ink he used to write it.

Confessions of a Murderer!

Putin:
The conditions for a settlement in Ukraine, outlined in June 2024, remain in force.

(These "conditions" are: Ukrainian troops leave Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions; Ukraine promises not to join NATO; Ukraine remains a neutral state).

Putin also said that no death of a Russian soldier has been unnecessary and claimed that Oreshnik has been put into serial production.

I'm not sure The Life Impossible by Matt Haig Is quite as good as The Midnight Library, (which was excellent), but it is still very engaging and I am enjoying it. There are far worse ways I could be starting my day. #Books #Bookstodon #FridayReads #AmReading #Fiction #MattHaig @bookstodon

Tankers carrying Russian oil are stuck off the coast of India - four vessels have been unable to unload, according to Bloomberg.

Near the city of Jamnagar, the tankers Achilles and Elyte are anchored - each carrying 700,000 barrels of Russian Urals crude. They were scheduled to offload in early August. Both ships are under EU and UK sanctions.

The reasons for the delay remain unclear, and the destinations of the tankers may change.
