Not sure what the attraction is, but Riley wants to be this close lately. Maybe itโ€™s the eau de fish tacos. ๐ŸŒฎ

The Russians are still successfully circumventing EU sanctions on their information warfare weapons. Disguised as the voices of the "underrepresented" Global South, clandestine Russian propaganda outlets continue to influence young audiences desperate for alternatives to mainstream media.

Iโ€™m always amused when movies set in the present day have a scene with a crowd of press photographers and use the whirring of 35mm film motor drives as a sound effect.

for a long while the special sound effect to show a computer was responding was the clack-it-clack of a teletype.
and to show a computer was working was to show 9-track IBM tape drives spinning back and forth.

I just finished a non-fiction book that described someone listening to a "transistor radio" in Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941.

The people of Gaza spend their nights in suffocating darknessโ€ฆ no electricity, no generators, no streetlights, not even a glimmer of light inside their destroyed homes. Homes reduced to rubbleโ€ฆ desolate streets where only the moans of the wounded and the sound of the wind amidst the ruins can be heard. Children sleep in the cold, and families take shelter under pieces of cement or tattered tents that offer no protection from the wind or their fear.

A nighttime view of a small, makeshift shelter illuminated by a fire. The shelter appears to be constructed with tarps and other materials, creating a small enclosed space. A fire burns brightly within the shelter, casting a warm glow on the occupants, who are seated around it. The background features a densely packed urban landscape with numerous buildings and lights, suggesting a city or town. The scene is dark overall, with the fire being the primary source of illumination.

Resolution for 2024 was to develop my art skills. Done. 2025's resolution was to earn money from my art, so I finally opened Ko-fi and Patreon tip jars with downloads to make that happen. I have just 3 wks to make my goal. Even a $1 tip counts.

I used to think of the British media as generally more reasonable than stuff in the US but the Guardian kept putting out more and more noticeably queerphobic stuff that made me sit up and go yikes.

All of the major media outlets have been sliding to the right.

Even PBS & NPR, here in the US. Grew up with my whole family using those every day. They sharply started heading downhill when their public funding was slashed in 1994, and I haven't been able to stand them hardly at all since they went full sheepdog in 2016.

in reply to Violet Madder

@violetmadder that coincides with my own experience completely. The same is true of German mainstream media, even though it is still publicly funded.

Good morning and welcome to Sunday.

Todays photo is from when I decided to make Christmas cards for friends. This was a lot of stitching but some of them were so much fun to make, especially the gonks and Totoro. I don't stitch cards for people now, most of my stitching ends up in a box since I don't have infinite wall space to display the stitching.

Todays plans involve.....stitching. I know, its surprising, its almost like I enjoy it ๐Ÿ˜‰ Later plans involve watching F1 and no doubt stress ๐Ÿ˜‚

Time for more coffee.

Have a lovely day everyone.
