hello #knitting friends! I am in search of #lace patterns. For some reason my knitting love so far has been about how fun it is to work with bulky yarn, and how much I like making lace.
I do not especially want to make garments because the other thing that is fun is finishing things!
this all leads to me wanting a bunch of lace patterns that are in the 15-50 stitches wide realm and will look cool even if i only do 2-3 repeats of the lace. sure, if i have enough yarn and it works out, that could be some kind of scarf, but I am thinking of them as art objects right now.
supportive advice is welcome! I've been knitting less than a year, there's so much I don't know
(look for the post where i try to find them homes in 6-12 months!)
Even better - I saw an awesome friend this weekend and she gave me a ton of gorgeous homespun that will be perfect for this kind of thing! So I'm READY. My size 10 needles are free, and I am going to catalog some yarn!
Can someone please explain to me why yarn producers think this is an acceptable way of winding balls of yarn?
It too little coffee o’clock for this kind of nonsense. #knitting

Looking for accessible/adaptive knitting methods/devices for colorwork and tension! I have hEDS and my body CANNOT physically relax enough to get good, consistent knitting tension. The #1 tip people say, "relax," is not possible for my body without enough muscle relaxers to kill me.
So, are there any good assistive devices for this? Has a clever disabled knitter come up with a better way to do this yet? I've tried knitting thimbles and they just make it worse for me.

Really enjoying this #knit. Pattern is Simultaneous Sweater by Megan Monroe. Yarn is my own Ripples Crafts #handdyedYarn yarn - the Arcadia DK base which is an upcycled merino yarn (non mulesed). The pattern uses 4 colours. And I love it.
During my post-surgery convalescence, I've been knitting up a storm (for me -- I'm very slow). Finished knitting and blocking this Sabai Top by Susanne Müller. I like how it turned out. (photo attached)
I added a slip-stitch crochet row at the bottom and neckline edges to keep them from curling.
I'll wear it to my book club tonight to discuss “Blood, Fire, & Gold: The Story of Elizabeth I & Catherine de Medicine” by Estelle Paranque. Great book, crazy history.
Happy National Potato Day! The beloved spud was first cultivated in South America as early as 8000 BC.
If you love potatoes, you'll love these potato knitting patterns from my August Celebrations page
