For decades politicians have used the fear of strangers to gain votes. If this continues, I predict it will soon be impossible for people with dual citizenship to stay in increasingly populist countries, because even the smallest violation of any law will mean they are deported and lose everything.
This rejection of foreigners will make the world poorer, dumber, and more prejudiced — all because politicians found it easier to win through fear than to win through innovative ideas for prosperity.

I’m not usually a fan of orchids. I do find them oddly fascinating, & love spotting native ones on walks in the bush. But this one, a gift from a student, is a real beauty. I wondered if it was real for a moment & will have to research how to care for it.
Argh! I’m intimidated enough by one! But I have found a good article & apparently the orchid I’ve been given is quite hardy. Phew!

Currently this #node is aware of 45,460 nodes with14,241,392 active users, I think it would be really cool if everyone of those nodes was aware of my #friendica instance, and if somehow I ended up with 14million followers, I don't stay following everyone that follows me, because even trimming back how often I receive their posts, my database just grows to much for the resources I have available, but I think it would be like having one massive extended family I could scroll through every day and see how everyone is doing, ok that's it that's my post you can return to your scrolling now;
