10 Years of Let's Encrypt #Certificates
letsencrypt.org/2025/12/09/10-…

Mindblowing statistics of this extremely important project, delivering #security and #privacy for billions of people, protecting us from all sorts of attacks.

Still a shame that even important #infrastructure like that is depending on #corporate #money and not #publicmoney.

You are right that its so important to have encryption. Given the established ways of running https (with CAs) solutions like #LetsEncrypt were the most straight forward ones. It helped establishing things like #ACME and shorter cert-lifetimes.
Too bad projects like #CACert failed to really establish.
I would have hoped rolling out self-signed certs with #DNSSEC validation would have been considered by browsers as an additional and viable solution completely avoiding CA-hierarchies.

The hallmark of today's oligarchs is fascistic psychopathy

P'pathy is a personality disorder - so far incurable

Power is everything (money just a means)

Utterly dangerous is the absence of empathy &, hence, of conscience

Traditionally shunned, they've used the internet (for all its goods) to organise,

destroying the very conditions that enabled human flourishing in the Holocene

Solution: stop handing them power

Even chimps throw out bully leaders

Yesterday, @Basmitharts mentioned that the Lancia Fulvia was one of the few other users to a V4 engine besides the recently featured Fords and Saabs. The Lancia’s engines had a much narrower V angle of twelve degrees, compared with the 60 degrees between the cylinder banks of the British and German Ford V4s. I saw this Fulvia coupé at Techno Classica Essen in 2013.

@Brokar

@Brokar

There is no place for the water to go.

There is also a large volume of untreated waste that is now being moved around by the water, increasing the risk of diseases.

“People are living in it, people are moving in it, people are using blankets and kitchen items that have been polluted by this water.”

A train driver made an unscheduled stop so that a stranded couple could get home safely. Kirill Tsukanov and his partner Marina missed the last slow train from London to Cambridge so had to take a service that wasn’t due to stop at Shelford Station. But after begging Greater Anglia on X to make a “really short additional stop”, the train company agreed. He said it was like a “Christmas miracle came true”.
in reply to Badgardener

@Badgardener I once had a train wait for me for a couple of minutes while I got off a delayed train from London to Derby. It was the last train heading to Matlock and I had booked assistance at Derby which had asked the driver to wait.

That is *so* different! Plus, getting up the A6 is an absolute pig at any time.

#uk folks might want to join me in signing this petition: Edinburgh wants to open 2 #ai #datacentres each polluting as much CO2 as the airport does!

And at first they didn't even consider doing an environmental impact assessment!
