slow site
I spent hours yesterday trying to understand if it was nginx or php8.5 that had caused my site to become so slow. Turned out to be the update to Firefox and it was my browser, chrome was lighting fast in 300ms load times, Firefox was constantly 4-5 seconds for the same page. Disabling http3 quic on the server got Firefox performance back to normal. Just a fyi for dev nerds.

@grey It's just a newer protocol that is supposed to speed things up by having your web browser do more of the heavy lifting unfortunately Firefox seems to be getting slower and slower with every release and is not playing well with it at all

For a few days, I've had the urge to do some #baking so I'm making a "Quick and easy fruit cake" from one of Rose Elliot's vegetarian recipe books. It's just gone into the oven and should bake for between two and two-and-a-half hours at a low temperature, gas mark 2.

The recipe calls for an 8 inch round tin which I do not have. Hopefully an 8.5 inch square tin will be fine. I'll enjoy the crunchy corners!

The recipe has no eggs. Instead it uses milk, vinegar and baking soda. This makes a disgusting curdled mess but this is similar to the vegan ginger cake recipe I sometimes follow, so I wasn't too shocked when I saw congeal in the pan!
