When phones were single use devices, not providing a command line available to users was fine. But phones can now do almost everything. We need to make sure that all phones have command line access and all school children are trained to use it.

@CppGuy It's not something you should discover on your phone, leave it to the legacy devices where it belongs.

@dshan

A phone isn't ideal, certainly. Typing typical Unix commands is a chore, and the screen's too small even for 80x25, especially with a soft keyboard taking up half the available space. But people who don't have access to Unix any other way mostly have smartphones. To me, it's a matter of making the best use of hardware that's already available rather than presenting the command line as the best way to use a phone (which, I agree, it isn't).

I got hooked on computers when a command line was all there was, because GUIs hadn't been invented. I'd like today's young people to have that opportunity if they want it.

Do you want to print a Linux, macOS, *BSD, or Unix manual page? Perhaps you want a nicely rendered PS or PDF file? There is an easy way to do this. Open the terminal and run following commands:
```
man -t {command} > "{filename}.ps"
man -t sort>"sort.ps"
# open using default Doc viewer
xdg-open "sort.ps" # Linux
open "sort.ps" # macOS
# print it on printer named HP2
man -t sort | lp -d HP2
```

very nice. however, i thought the modern way is to build man pages using mdoc and to make formatted output with mandoc.

« Supported values for the output argument are ascii, html, the default of locale, man, markdown, pdf, ps, tree, and utf8. »

It appears so. Even without them, though, the grift wild have been in full swing.
