Someone asked how hard it would be for a #Mastodon client to implement a "Following" feed like on #Cohost. Not hard at all, here's a quick prototype I made in a few minutes in @tokodon 🙂

If I were to turn it into a real feature, it need a better looking list, and filtering options of course...

There's no good way to receive the user's last post contents, so I left that out. That's a solvable problem technically, but doing that for several users at once would start to look like spam from the server's perspective :artsweats:

I think as long as the last activity time is there, the post contents aren't necessary.

Perhaps the post content could be cached client-side after being loaded as part of the individual feed and displayed if the last activity time matches the post's time, providing an easy way to see that you're already caught up with that person.

Here's the finished version (but not yet merged)! I'm now using it in my personal Tokodon build... wow this is very good. Still needs some navigation kinks worked out but I really like this.
