One of the finest pleasures in life is to discover a complete series of novels as an adult, to devour them through to the end, and to arrive at that end to discover that, while you'd have happily inhabited the author's world for many more volumes, you are *eminently* satisfied with the series' conclusion.

Such an incredible series! It introduced me to historical fantasy fiction, and Novak's writing was weirdly educational in some aspects while thoughtful and entertaining in others.

Congratulations on 20 years of Down and Out!

Thanks for this! I have really enjoyed all her other books but have been hesitant to commit to an eight book series.

These are great books and I'm also quite enjoying her Scholomance trilogy (like Harry Potter meets Lord of the Flies but the school is filled with Lovecraftian horrors/D&D monsters)
