Seems more likely he'll just let things devolve further...

Trump would not elaborate on what he meant by his threat — first announced on social media in early December — that "all hell will break out" if a deal is not made.

"It will not be good for Hamas, and it will not be good, frankly, for anyone," Trump said. -Source

Not sure he understands the implications of his own statement...

Stopping a genocide is the opposite of devolving. Trumps statement is a direct threat to Israel. There is no leverage or "worse" for Hamas. Democrats trying to spin Trump stopping the genocide into something bad is comical.

Well, let's see what happens.

I also highly doubt he's gonna do anything. Add on top of that, that very few outside countries seem to care about Trump, much less respect him enough to actually listen to anything he has to say.

in reply to Feydaikin

What did that 'respect' get little old Joey Brandon? All Trump had to do was threaten to cut off the weapons.

Trump already did something

They already have weapons, both sides, and America doesn't sit on the worlds supply of weapons. So that will get him nothing.

His envoy pressing for a ceasefire seems to do very little, as everybody else has been doing the same for a while now.

What else have you got?

in reply to geneva_convenience

I’m sure all the money AIPAC gave to Trump has no impact. We know Trump to be such a non-transactional person. You drank a big ass glass of the MAGA koolaid dude. Netanyahu and Trump are very friendly, I’m sure he wants to make it look like Trump brought a cease fire for optics. Israel is losing support all over the world, even in Israel, they were pushing towards the optics of a cease fire for a while. You wait and see what really happens. I’m sure the author of the Muslim ban who constantly decries negatively towards Islam is going to stand up for the poor Islamic state over the rich lucrative Israeli state. 🤦🏻

Trump gets his funding from Miriam Adelson. the $100 million she gave him is clearly not even close to what the Democrats received. Becacuse Trump is stopping the genocide instantly. Kool aid is supposed to be red but these days it is blue.
in reply to geneva_convenience

Dude Trump isn’t even in office yet lol.

Your logic as viewed by everyone else:

“If it’s good, Trump did it. If it’s bad, it’s Biden’s fault.”

PLEASE tell me you’re thinking it through more than this, then let’s have a dialogue about that thought process because I am incredibly curious how you got there.

Kool aid comes in multiple colors.

Netanyahu says ‘last-minute crisis’ with Hamas holding up approval of Gaza truce and hostage deal
in reply to geneva_convenience

Trumps statement is a direct threat to Israel.

You realize he's literally threatening Hamas here, no?

"It will not be good for Hamas, and it will not be good, frankly, for anyone," Trump said.

He seems more likely to stop the genocide by allowing Isreal to just kill everyone so there's no one left to genocide....

They are more likely to give Israel a lot of leeway, including releasing Biden’s hold on the transfer of certain weapons to finish the job as soon as possible. Source
in reply to Midnitte

Trump holds no leverage over Hamas. He knows that. The word anyone in that sentence means Israel.
in reply to geneva_convenience

I don’t know if I would count “making an announcement on social media” as stopping the genocide, but I understand that for Trump voters the bar on anything must be very low.
in reply to Avessandra

So why are Democrats already spinning their comments as if Biden is achieving a ceasefire right now?
in reply to geneva_convenience

I might be blind, where are those articles saying Biden admin solved it? They are saying opposite?
in reply to ThirdConsul

I thought you meant evidence Trump was responsible for the ceasefire. For Democrats trying to claim credit here is an example.

Trump and Biden both claim credit for Gaza ceasefire deal

in reply to geneva_convenience

Wait, so from this article Biden's guy said that "we want you to do X" while Trump's guy said "we want the same" and then everyone agreed?
in reply to geneva_convenience

What makes you think Trump should get the credit?

Biden said his admin and the incoming Trump admin worked together on it, and Trump’s is responsible for the implementation and continuance of the agreement.

in reply to karl_chungus

We shall see if Trump will cover and lie for Netanyahu like Biden did.
in reply to geneva_convenience

lol or you and that articles anonymous sources were wrong….

Its ok to be wrong. I find it kinda funny though that you had to downvote a purely factual article just because you didn’t like the development of the situation.

It can’t be the source because you used the same one 40 minutes ago: lemmy.ml/comment/16115856

Do you understand the difference between Democrats trying to take credit, and Israelis and Arab sources attributing the credit to Trump?

One takes credit. The other is given credit.

in reply to geneva_convenience

Wrong.

Trump is claiming credit for all of it. Biden is claiming credit for the agreement, while acknowledging Trump was kept informed and is responsible for the implementation.

Anyone with internet access can compare what we know about the plan and what Biden proposed last year and see the similarities.

Just because Trump posted to social media first doesn’t mean he did shit.

Now you’re just grasping at air to try and not be wrong.

Bidens deal was on the table since June. Presenting an agreement has little value if he lets Netanyahu refuse it. Trump made Netanyahu accept the agreement.

Says who? An anonymous source on a paywalled article from a side with a heavy bias?

Because my less biased source already proved otherwise.

At this point you’re just creating headcanon and arguing with that.

Downvoting doesn’t make you any less wrong.

That is objectively already more than dems did.

With dems we just got news articles about how behind closed doors Biden was super duper mad about the genocide then they'd send more bombs.

in reply to Adkml [he/him]

Although Democrats did completely drop the ball on this and never should have sent Israel anything, we also got the terms of this deal last year from Biden, so there also that.

Oh wait you’re from hexbear. You’ll just double down anyway.

Shouldn’t the text read something like, “republicans looking at the receipts for the wall Mexico was supposed to pay for”
in reply to puppetx

100% on your side. But careful not to set yourself up for the same legit criticism that we throw at R's. Whataboutism.

edit: but also that would be a pretty great meme, tbf

Genocide is a bit worse than the wall of whataboutism. But if you want to go there Democrats are building it too so it would be a spidey meme.

I love that you're out here praising Trump for something that happened before he even enters office. Fucking talk about "mental olympics" lmao
in reply to Ganbat

You do realize Trump sent an envoy to Israel which forced the genocide to stop right?
in reply to geneva_convenience

And he didn't do this a year ago why? Oh right, exchanging lives for the reelection campaign.

In that article I don't see that Dump (or Biden) did much more than posturing around this. Also anything that refers to this conflict as a 15 month war is suspect.

Right after he releases his tax returns, oh wait by his own words he stands by nothing.

Where’s the “sort by most downvotes”? This is absolutely. Is Trump/Musk paying infiltrators? Seriously, dude can’t read the room. What’s going on here?
