@rubyas If you wrap the fruit in airtight cling wrap, it is contained. Of course, I don't have any with me at the time.

Many years ago, I joined a group of people to eat another durian found in the forest (quietly). It was delicious.

Yes, the smell is rather strong, and durians are banned on public transport here.

I think the most notorious case was in this library in Melbourne, Australia. It was evacuated due to the smell.

Picture note: the hairy fruit on the right is rambutan, which is sweet and well liked.
