#ArtAdventCalendar Day 22 /23 #LeafMother has been working on the wreaths! I hope anyone who celebrates in any way is having a beautiful season! A natural tangle of branches and twigs forms a shape almost like the top of a wreath with afternoon sun variably shining on and through the leaves and stems. Woody twigs and vines of Snowberry and Honeysuckle, along with an herbaceous native wild pea vine (Lathyrus ochroleucus) show a variety of stem sizes and colours, along with scattered dry leaves of reddy brown and goldy green. The background is blue shadowed snow with more foliage and twigs, blurred. The edges of the image are further blurred, with a white vignette effect applied. A muted gold taken from some of the dry leaves has been used for a thin border around the image, and a slightly lighter shade for lettering that says Happy Holidays in a casual script font in upper left.
The gold tip of a stem of Wild (Prickly) Rose Rosa acicularis enters view from lower left with just a few prickles visible ending in a reddish leaf bud and a single rose hip on a relatively long stem that arcs out past the centre of the photo. The hip is a narrow elongated oval, somewhat wrinkled, orangey red enhanced by the afternoon sun. The hip still holds the dried remnants of sepals and stamens at its end. Rich browny gold and pointy, it looks a bit as if some tiny stiff squid has attached to the tip of the fruit. The background is a blur of darkish blue shadowed snow with a few spots of red (other hips) and brown (stems/leaves).Edges/corners have been further blurred with a black vignette effect applied to emphasise the shadows. A medium gold colour taken from the dried floral bits has been used for narrow border around the image and simple lettering in lower left that reads Happy Holidays.

By the light this evening, it looked like solstice was in fact today, so you can enlong your pagan celebrations 👏😊 Is there a word or a sentence to say for the event?
For me rainy night, perfect for reading a little before lorazepam works :)

a word for Solstice celebrations? There must be but none I am very familiar with..lol- probably old words in all of the northern countries! I just say Solstice/Winter Solstice :) I think of all the dates- solstices + equinoxes- as f a period of time- several days or even a week- as one half/season folds into the next one- so there is always time for treats, photos, videos (I have video, but no time to edit yet) and just enjoying the beauty of the time :)

@Langile luckily my paid job is not affected-- since I only work on the weekends these days (2 days of that is all I can handle..lol)
In a simple greeting I would just say 'Happy Solstice' or for a 'card' image I might say 'Blessed Solstice'- I probably wouldn't say that in person unless I were with people I know are into that..lol
I'm not supposed to cut wood today, so maybe I'll edit a short video or a few..lol
