Hi gang!
My senior cat has a growth on her abdomen. I don't know what it is; the vet says it could be nothing serious, but it's getting bigger, faster, and she keeps grooming it until it bleeds.
I've been trying to save up to pay for the surgery, estimated to cost $3700 last July, but I'm a broke student, and ASPCA has no appointments.

Please help us get this mass surgically removed. I'm in school full time, raising my daughter with only a small benefit after my husband passed away last year. I barely have enough to keep us going.

in reply to NayOweMe • • •I've tried surgery suits, cones and all manner of restraint to keep her from grooming this mass on her belly. It's increasing in size and she's able to get out of her cones. The surgery suits get messy in the litter box and have to be constantly removed and washed.

I took Mimster to the vet yesterday. To continue with assessment for surgical removal of the mass on her belly we had to have a heart enzyme test. An additional $319.00 & I still haven't had the pre-surgical tests done.
They wanted to do $919 of tests yesterday for surgery. If the cardiac enzyme test comes back making her ineligible, the other testing isn't necessary so we only did that one.

This estimate is $1100 less than Bond Vet was going to charge but is still more money than I have.
If I stopped paying all of my utilities for 3 months I might be able to pay for it but then I'm in an entirely new and more precarious financial bind.

We scheduled an appointment on 9/8 w/ a surgeon who can treat her in case of malignancy.
I had to cut Mimi's scab off yesterday. It is oozing and things r sticking to it. I'm sure you can imagine. I hate that she has to deal with this. She's sitting next to me right now, being the same sweet fuzzy menace she was when we adopted her from the shelter, making biscuits in her little cubicle.
Please help me pay for diagnostics of this mass growing on her belly.

Mimi's wound stopped oozing. I keep watching for changes in behavior, eating, drinking, elimination, etc.. I asked the vet for signs of infection and they haven't responded. I'm just trying to keep her on her regular routine.

Mimi is 9 years old & one of the great loves of my life. She's in good spirits, eating like a champ, and otherwise healthy. She has a mass on her abdomen and needs a radical mastectomy. I have several vet quotes ranging from $1500 to $3600 for just the surgery and biopsy.
I'm a student, a mom, and a recent widow. After being laid off, I don't have this kind of expendable income. Every cent is accounted for.

Fingers crossed that they'll cover it, but I still need to raise what I can to contribute, & they suggest I do and apply for more help. The specialist at the hospital was really hopeful that the mass is growing away from the body wall. I feel the momentum towards her recovery.

in reply to NayOweMe • • •Checked w/ the surgeon who is to perform the mastectomy. During their initial consultation they said that if I wanted to have pre-surgical testing done at our regular vet it might be more cost effective.
I asked what testing would need to be done pre surgery & the response scared the shit out of me. They need a chest x-ray to make sure there's no metastasis of the tumor, and a CBC to check her organ functions to make sure she doesn't have any risks during anesthesia.

I'm more scared they'll charge me more than I have than I am she has a serious illness. She's a healthy booger; screaming at me for breakfast she can't have and climbing furniture to get it as if she suddenly has thumbs & can open it and eat.
Help is appreciated. I'm dead broke after this.
