PeerTube Made My YouTube Better

Why use PeerTube? It makes YouTubing less risky.
Having a test audience and re-uploads lets you catch issues before they go up on YouTube permanently. PeerTube also gives you a permanent archive of your work so that you'll always have a copy even if YouTube takes it down.

So, I'll be following this series with interest! Hoping to see particularly what storage costs tend to be for small shared instance as videos get posted.
speaking of QA... at 9m5s you have Chanel (luxury brand?) content.

You can look at the about page of a Peertube instance to see how much storage the instance is using in relation to how many videos it's hosting.

Keep in mind, it's definitely not an exact science because there are many ways to optimize a video to minimizing storage if this is your priority.
You can get an idea of storage costs on the fedihost pricing page:

The idea of uploading to peertube first is brilliant #FediFirst it's a great backup, and a life raft, as you say, if Google turns "evil";)

I put a couple of videos on youtube but most of them got flagged. One about a store selling bad food. One copyright strike with a VERY old video with family members that happened to have music on the background for a couple of seconds. Things like that made uploading a HUGE pain.

For me im just looking to post videos for my family. They dont particularly care about where they get the videos, they just want to be able to see them. And copyright strikes can suck when its just an old video of Grandpa going fishing but someone goes by with a radio on.

After another youtuber has expressed their frustrations with the platform, I did a quick and dirty calculations which came to about $1200/month for their number of videos and views.
