The season is coming to an end, and as the days cool, the butterflies need to spend more time sunbathing to raise their body temperature. This makes them a lot more docile, making closeups a lot easier!

I snapped this beautiful Painted Lady #Butterfly on some Black-eyed Susans in the little butterfly garden at the library in #Maynooth University.

A top-down diagonally composed closeup of a mostly brown butterfly, perched on big dark yellow daisies with conical black centers with wings wide open. The butterfly’s torso is brown and hairy, and there are little areas of different colours towards the edge of the wings, mostly orange and black, with a little white.
